Following their marriage, the couple were honored with an informal in-formal reception, for members of the bridal party and near relatives. rela-tives. During the evening, Billie Bird gave vocal solos and Mrs. Lloyd Bird and Mrs. Lewis Bird piano and violin selections. Refreshments were served to approximately forty-five guests. The serving table was beautifully decorated with a large pink and white wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom, and tall white tapers in crystal holders. hold-ers. Serving were Gene Harmer of Payson and LaRee Bird. The bride and groom spent a few days in Salt Lake City. He will leave Friday for Camp Swift, Texas, and she will make her home in Springville for the present. Highlighting social events here the past week was the marriage of Clara Bird, daughter of Mrs. Mary A. Bird of this city, and Pfc. Gene Averett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Averett also of Springville. The marriage took place at the home of the bride's brother, Lewis Bird, with Howard Maycock, bishop bish-op of the First ward, performing a double ring ceremony, in the presence of the immediate members mem-bers of the two families. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Bryan Bird of Midvale, and preceding the ceremony, cere-mony, violin music with piano ac-companient, ac-companient, was given by Mrs. Lewis Bird and Mrs. Lloyd Bird. Pink and white gladioli with tall pink tapers on either side, decorated dec-orated the mantel, in front of which stood the young couple to be married. An eggshell satin gown, with long sleeves and sweetheart neckline, neck-line, was worn by the bride, and her corsage was of white gardenias garde-nias and pink rosebuds.
