Show TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR RAILROADERS ... IB ? fTT r 1 1 v - , - - :i J Railroad workers and their families, including a number of small children, who are sacrificing many of their peace-time comforts by living in 9x20-foot trailers until houses are available to relieve the tight housing situations at Helper, Utah, and Minturn, Colo., this week were praised by officials of the Rio Grande Railroad for their patriotic loyalty. This photo shows a panoraa of the Helper Trailer Camp of 50 units which was created in November at the outskirts of town. A similar trailer camp for railroaders is at Minturn, where 15 units are set up. The trailers at Helper provide something of home-like convenience. Each has electric lights, fuel oil heater, gasoline range ice-box, sinks and 15-gallon storage tanks for water. There are three utilities buildings, including showers and a laundry building which has eight stationary tubs and is heated by an automatic oil heater. The camp is under supervision of the Federal Public Housing Authority and Ira E. Nuzum is the housing area manager with headquarters at the Helper camp. |
