Actually, this hour and a hall extravaganza has worn extremely thin and it wouldn't surprise us ii its only audience these days are new TV owners or people who never nev-er tire of repetition . . . Ben Blue has started his projected TV fllnl series, "Ben Blue, Esq.," financed by NBC ... An audition tape was cut on a show titled "Country Editor," Edi-tor," starring Will Rogers Jr. Guy Mitchell, who zoomed td popularity via Columbia Records, will make his dim debut in "Thos Sisters from Seattle" . . . Alreadj in the works is a second film roli for versatile Guy . . . He's beei assigned one of the key parts il Paramount's upcoming "Bed Gar ters," a lavish technicolor produo tion which will be filmed in the nevi 3-D process ... In "Red Garters," Guy will join a Columbia platter mate, lovely Rosemary Clooney, who just made her own debut i "The Stars Are Singing." PLATTER CHATTER CAPITOL: More wonderful dlsoj for the kiddles have been released by this company . . . Mel Blanc does a fine job with "Little Red Monkey" backed by "Pussy Cai Parade" , . . Then there's a cut little ditty called "Teena, th Laughing Hyena" as done by Billy May and written by Alan Livingston Living-ston . . . Bozo gets into the act with two fine waxings of nursery songs and "Jungle Jingles," featuring fea-turing the popular laughing hyena again. Jerry Lewis leaves Dean Martin long enough to do two songs from Walt Disney's "Peter Pan" "Never "Nev-er Smile At a Crocodile" and "Following "Fol-lowing the Leader" . . Mel Bland continues his fine work on "Woody Woodpecker and the Animal Crackers," Crack-ers," and "Sylvester and Hippety Hopper" These are all ex cellent for the small fry and guaranteed guar-anteed to keep them glued to the phonograph. |
