Show Coast Guard Academy which is located at New London, Conn. An applicant must have 15 units of high school nredit by June 30, 1954, but three are required in English, two in algebra and one and one each in plane geometry and physics. Eligibility is based solely on a nation-wide competitive compet-itive examination. There are no Congressional appointments to the Coast Guard Academy. Exams will be given to qualified applicants in the following cities on February 23 and 24, 1954: Eureka, Fresno, and San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif.; Reno, Nevada; and Salt Lake City, Utah. More detailed information on the Coast Guard Academy may be had by phoning, writing, or visting the Coast Guard Reserve Office, Room 946, U. S. US Coast Guard Seeks Applicants To CG Academy San Francisco, December 28 - -The United States Coast Guard reminded today that applications from young men to take the 1954 Coast Guard Academy examination must be postmarked before midnight mid-night on January 15, 1954. Applications are being accepted from high school graduates or current high school seniors who will be graduated by June 30, 1954 They must be between the ages of 17 and 22 inclusive. Men already in one of the five armed forces may also apply for an Academy appointment provided they meet necessary age and scholastic schol-astic rquirements.
