Show Algae Farms May Supply New, Foods Some of our future farmers may spend their time raising the one-celled one-celled plants known as algae said by nutrition experts to offer an important source of protein. The algae, related to the green scum on ponds, utilize sunshine and air more efficiently than any other living thing. Two pilot plants one in Massachusetts and the other in Japan have made food samples from them. Americans found the output of the Massachusetts Massach-usetts plant a trifle strong for eating eat-ing in large quantities, although it was pleasing as a garnish, and tasted all right when added to a chicken-base broth. Japanese Like Taste The Japanese had better luck. Diners said the product tasted like dried seaweed or powdered green tea both popular in that country.
