Show 'How to Remove Stains from . . . CATSUP Sponge the stain thoroughly with cold water to remove re-move all loose foodstuffs. For washable rayon fabrics: Wash with soap and water. Rince well. For non-washable rayon fabrics: Sponge with warm soapy water, then sponge with clear water to remove traces of soap. CHEWING GUM. Hold a piece of ice directly under the stuck-to-part. This feezes the gum, which can then be picked off easily. Then sponge with Carbona, Energine or carbon tetrachloride. COD LIVER OIL. Fresh cod liver li-ver oil stains are almost colorless and easy to remove. Old stains, especially es-pecially if the material has been washed or ironed, are a light brown and almost impossible to remove. For washable rayon fabrics (fresh stains..: Pour either glycerine glycer-ine or one of the soapless shampoos shamp-oos on the stain. Rub lightly between bet-ween the hands to loosen the stain. Rince" well with lukewarm water. Wash in warm soap suds. Then rinse in clear water. For non-washable rayon fabrics (fresh stains) : Sponge or dip stains in Carbona, Energine or carbon tetrachloride. If any stain is left, sponge with luke warm soapy water. CHOCOLATE. First scrape off as much of the stain as possible with a dull knife. For washable rayon fabrics: Regular laundering in warm soapy water will usually remove this stain. Rinse thoroughly. For non-washable rayon fabrics: fab-rics: Sponge with Carbona, Energine Ener-gine or carbon tetrachloride to dissolve the grease. Dry thoroughly,, thorough-ly,, then sponge with luke warm water. COFFEE. Old stains are difficult diffi-cult to remove. Sponge with cold or lukewarm water immediately diulting the stain by free application appli-cation of the water. For washable rayon fabrics: Launder with warm soapy water. If stain persists, use mild solution (on white material only), of 3 tablespoons Javelle or chlorine water to 1 quart cold water. Rinse thoroughly. BLOOD. Never use hot water on blood stains, it set the stains. For washable rayon fabrics : Soak the stains in cold water until they turn light brown. Then wash in warm soapy water. If the stain is an old one and has dried, it may help to loosen the blood to sak in solution of 2 tablespoons of ammonia to a gallon of water. Then wash. For non-washable rayon fabrics: Sponge with cold or lukewarm water wa-ter ommediately, diluting the stain by free application of the water. Then sponge with warm soapy water followed by third sponging with clear water. |
