Show Annual DSA To Be Made At Banquet January 19 An annual event to which all citizens look forward for-ward with interest, is the selection of the outstanding outstand-ing young man of the city which each year is spon- sored by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Date set for announcement of the winner of this enviable position posi-tion is Thursday, January 19, when the annual Distinguished Service Award will be made by planned banquet and program, at Jack's Place beginning at 8 p.m. For the past several months, judges have been going over the list of eligible young men of the city for this award. Taken into consideration is the contribution candidates have made to the general gen-eral welfare of the community the past year. Also their participation in all-round community or state activities. They must have evidence evi-dence of lasting contribution to the community and must exhibit leadership ability. Personal or business bus-iness progress will be taken into consideration as well as cooperation coopera-tion with individuals and civic organizations. or-ganizations. Candidates must not have reached their 36th birthday before January 1. The fact that the award is for direct, outstanding service and has no relation to Junior Chamber of Commerce membership, makes it possible for any young man in the city to get the award regardless of his affiliations. He does not have to be a member of the Jay-cees. Jay-cees. In fact, it has been pointed out that the last two young men to get the award namely: George Bird and Glenn Turner, were not Jaycee members. In addition' to the Distinguished Service Award, there will be three key-man awards made to club members, : who have contributed most to the club the past year during the banquet. The award this year will be the eighth of its kind to be given since the inauguration of the project pro-ject by the Jaycee organization. Those who have been thus honored include, Harrison Conover, Paul Haymond, Grant Thorn, Verl Whiting, A. H. Mortensen, Glen Turner and George Bird.
