Show Brookside School ' Grounds Have Been Landscaped The grounds of the new Brook-side Brook-side school have taken on a "new look" with extensivve planting and improvements underway. The wel- I come show of green is becoming ' evident as the newly-planted lawns s-begin to show and shrubbery takes' I root in assigned corners. Lawns were planted by the school board, who have also had the job of putting in the "blackcap" "black-cap" for the courts. Beautiful shrubbery has been purchased through money raised by the PTA organization and the job of cleaning, clean-ing, fertilizing, and planting was taken over by the Sixth graders with the help of a group of their fathers and Principal Victor Frandsen. j Playground equipment, furnish- j ed by the school board also, has been installed by Ellis Bird, cus- todian, with the custodians of various var-ious schools in the district lending a helping hand. Included in the equipment are swings, teeter boards, slides, and a merry-go-round. Much of the success in securing the improvements, has been attributed at-tributed to the Brookside PTA organization led by Mrs. Eldon Bartholomew, as president; Mrs. Earl Moss and Victor Frandsen, vice presidents; Mrs. R. A. Old-royd, Old-royd, secretary and treasurer; with the cooperative help of room mothers: Mrs. Louise Reid, Mrs. Mary Palfreyman, Mrs. Wanda Peay, Mrs. Lucille Weight, Mrs. Geneve Mendenhall, Mrs. Peggy Holt, Mrs. Mary Wright, Mrs. Joyce West, Mrs. Helen Goodliffe, Mrs. Arthur Wing, Mrs. Lois Miller, Mil-ler, Mrs. Kay Eldredge, Mrs. Effie Phillips, Mrs. Miriam Schott, and Mrs. Maybelle Wilson. In addition to the purchase of the shrubbery, the organization has raised enough money to ' buy a record player for the school, through the cooperation of parents par-ents and friends o fthe students in various fund-raising projects. New officers for the coming year include: Mrs. R. A. Oldroyd, president; Mrs. Sibbald Reid and Victor Frandsen, vice-president; and Mrs. Effie Phillips, secretary and treasurer. |
