Show Eight Boys From Springville Have Been Selected To Go To Boys State At least eight Springville boys will attend Boys State this year through the generosity of local civic clubs, it was announced this week. UiP , Jth Li -. f,three boys; the Legion Post, three boys; the Kiwanis club one and the Lions club one. The candidates will leave July 10, for a two week stay at Camp Williams. Only leaders in scholastic and civic activities are selected to attend. The Jayeees are sending M. Lee -Frandsen; son- of . -Mr.- - and -Mrs. Victor Prandsen; John Gustin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Gustin and Arthur Reid, son of Mr. and Mrs. Omar Reid. Legion candidates include: Ron Roylance, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Roylance; Ronald Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bird Brown and Kenneth Giles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Giles. George Hales, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Ray Hales is going as the candidate selected by the Kiwanis club and Reed Porter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porter was chosen cho-sen by the Lions club to attend the meet. The club raised the funds to send the boys to Boys State by various means the belief that the training which these young boys receive and the information which., they transmit to their friends upon up-on returning from the camp, is worth any effort. The Jaycees desire de-sire to thank those who participated participa-ted in the revue which they sponsored spon-sored to raise funds. The program of Boys State was initiated by the American Legion a number of years ago and has proved successful as well as beneficial bene-ficial for a large number of boys. During the two week stay at the camp, they receive the fundamentals fundamen-tals of good government as well as s o c i a 1 training and have a chance to participate in wholesome recreational activities.
