Show Mapleton M Men Benefit Bail Game Scheduled Tonight, Springville Gym The Mapleton M Men are sponsoring spon-soring a benefit basketball game with Snow College tonight at the Springville gym. A preliminary game with Springville First ward and Snow College Junior Varsity will begin at 7 p.m. with the main game featuring Mapleton against Snow College starting at 8 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to support 5 . the M Men in their efforts to obtain ob-tain new basketball suits. Tickets will be available from M Men or may be purchased at the door. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Mendenhall have been appointed as the new leaders of the Special Interest Class in the Mapleton Second ward MIA. Their meetings are held on Monday night and all adults of the ward are urged to attend. A Fireside Chat was held at the home of Miss Norma Hatfield Sunday Sun-day after church. Marilyn Tuttle and Neva Stringham assisted in serving refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Hopla enter- Mapleton visitors during the pasts week They have been house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thorn of Springville while here. .They will spend two weeks here and plan to return to California Tuesday of this week. iA social evening was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Rowberry Friday, where games were played and lunch served. Participating Par-ticipating were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hurst Miss LuAnn Stevens, Mr. Lewis Fredrickson, Miss Norma aHtfield and Mr. Bert Nielson. i A family dinner was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reid M. Hales Saturday evening. Out-of-town guests included Bishop and Mrs. LuRay Draper, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Draper and Mr. and Mrs. Glade Draper of Genola; Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Draper of Payson; Bishop and Mrs. Frank Sorenson of Palmyra; Mr. and Mrs. Duane Rowberry of Mapleton and Boyd Hales who is home from Logan for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Harmer have had the company of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Mace of Vacaville, California during dur-ing the past week. Thanksgiving day Mr. and Mrs. Harmer spent in Salt Lake City as guests of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Clegg and family. $Melvin Laird and their two child- ren, Denise and Marcia of Provo; and for Mr. and Mrs. Duane Jensen Jen-sen and their son, Sam of Mapleton. Thanksgiving guests at the Ruel Jensen home Thursday was then-daughter then-daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Clark and son, Randy of Roy, Utah and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Al-ma Jensen and girls, Annette and Diane of Mapleton. Mr. and Mrs. Glade Binks and daughter, Christine enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Palfreyman of Springville. Other dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Murdock and family, Mrs. Wm. Miller and family and Mr. and Mrs. Kent Palfreyman and family. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Jensen spent Thanksgiving at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Fay Jensen. Jen-sen. Spending the holidays at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Hooper was their daughter, daugh-ter, Jolene who is employed in Salt Lake City. Guests at the Reid M. Binks of Mapleton and Mr. Roy Barton of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Carma Frandsen and Bobby Frandsen. Mrs. Gertrude Shepherd of Salt Lake City has been a visitor at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Niel Whiting entertained en-tertained several relatives at their home Thanksgiving day. Their guests included Dr. and Mrs. Quin Whiting and family of Price, Dr. and Mrs. Rex Whiting of Heber and Mrs. Bert Whiting of Mapleton. Maple-ton. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Whiting and five children of Salt Lake City spent Sunday visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wiscombe of Mapleton and with Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Bird of Springville. Mrs. Charles Whiting left a week ago for Blackfoot, Idaho, 3where she has been a guest at the. home of her daughter, Ardith who is now Mrs. Raymond Jensen. The Jensens are rejoicing over the arrival ar-rival of a new baby boy at their home. i Charles Whiting left this week for Idaho where he will join his wife and be a guest at the Jensen home. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. MacKenzie were hosts to several relatives on Thanksgiving day. Among their guests were Mr. .and Mrs. James L. Cooper and family of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thorpe and young daughter and Mrs. Ethel Hales of Spanish Fork. Thanksgiving dinner was enjoyed enjoy-ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Holley by Mr. and Mrs. La-Mar La-Mar Holley and children, Kandi, Jerry and Randy; and Mr. and Mrs. Don Bird and family Karry Don, Denise and Leslee Ann and Mr. and Mrs. George Harrison. Robert Holley and his wife Wanda, Wan-da, of Arlington, Virginia, talked to their parents by phone as did their other son, Russell and family of Vernal. Mr. and Mi's. Carl Felix of Salt Lake City spent the holiday weekend week-end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold DeGraw. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jensen had several members of their family as dinner guests Thanksgiving Day. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jo-seph Binks was the scene of a delightful de-lightful turkey dinner party as well as a cottage meeting of the Senior Aaronic group of the Mapleton Second ward one night last week. Places were laid for thirty-eight including the following special guests: Bishop and Mrs. Reed Bennett, Ben-nett, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tuttle, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Halverson and Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Mendenhall. Menden-hall. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Loback (Penney) (Pen-ney) of Kearns spent the weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Binks. ' Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Bird left by train Tuesday evening for Hay-ward, Hay-ward, California where they will visit at the home of their daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law. Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Robertson and their family. fam-ily. They will be gone several days. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Snow of Long Beach, California have been Members of the Jensen family met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kelley Jensen in Springville to honor them on their wedding anniversary an-niversary Saturday evening. A family supper was enjoyed and the honored guests were presented with a gift. Covers were laid for the following men and their wives: Ruel Jensen, Earl Freeman, Verl Jensen, Alma, Jensen and Clark Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Johnson have had the company of their daughter, Mrs. J. D. Nebels and three children, John, Ina and Kem of Dubois, Idaho during the past week. After leaving here the Nebels Neb-els went to San Diego where they will attend the wedding reception of Rulon Johnson and Miss Bertha Ber-tha Trevels which was held on Saturday, November 24. Three Mapleton women have been chosen to work on the Relief Society Stake Board of the New Kolob Stake. They are Mrs. Lora Whiting who will act as counselor to the president; Mrs. Eva Bird who is social science instructor and Mrs. Ethel Jensen, home management man-agement instructor. The Relief Society of the Mapleton Maple-ton ward will sponsor a Foods and Apron sale December 7th. Supper will also be served beginning at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a charge of 50 cents per plate. Everyone is invited. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Jones of Las Vegas, Nev. spent the Thanksgiving Thanks-giving week at the home of her mother, Mrs. Mabel Hopla. Mrs. Jones is the former Margene Hopla. Hop-la. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hopla of Provo were with the family group for Thanksgiving dinner. |
