Haws, 28, was also recovering re-covering Wednesday from the effect ef-fect of a "black widow" spider bite which he suffered about 3 a.m., Tuesday morning, at the family residence, 689 East 10th South. Serum was relayed from Salt Lake City by patrolmen to the Utah Valley Hospital, where Haws was taken after partial paralysis set in early Tuesday morning, soon after he was bitten. He was expected ex-pected to be released from the hos-i hos-i pital Wednesday. I Mr. Palfreyman felt a sting when he put on his shoe on Sun- day morning, but left the house to do his chores. When he became seriously ill and felt numb, he came I to the house and took his shoes ! off. A black widow spider was on his stocking. A physician was called cal-led immediately. Haws was in bed when he felt the spider bite. He killed the insect in-sect and carried it out to the kitchen kitch-en and turned on the light to determine de-termine what it was. Almost immediately, im-mediately, he felt the effects of the poison going through his body and called a physician, who rushed him to the hospital, after cold packs were applied to no avail. |
