Show SOCIETY N&VS r plan to make their home in Placer-ville, Placer-ville, Calif., Mr. Shurtleff having secured a position in that city. 1 Mrs. Shurtleff was the former I Ruth Vane, daughter "of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Vane of this city. The Current Study club, Monday was entertained in Payson at the home of Mrs. ftdna Hill, with Miss Prudence Wride acting as hostess. Luncheon was served at small tables which displayed Easter favors and decorations. During the lunch instrumental music was played by students, from the Pay-son Pay-son high school. Later in the evening, eve-ning, Miss Bertha Bearnson gave a very interesting review of "Ra-poot" "Ra-poot" a book depicting life of the Russians by the five-year plan. Besides members, the following guests were also entertained: Miss Ada Smith, Mrs. Lucille Stoweil, Miss Minerva Johnson, Mrs. Wil-ma Wil-ma Harmer of Springville Miss Faye Bearnson and; Miss.. Eleanor Matley of Spanish Fork' and Miss Hazel Gardner of Payson. Complimentary to Mrs. Fred Hanson and Floyd Miner whose birthdays occurred recently Mrs. Miner entertained at a dinner at her home Sunday. Besides Mr. and Mrs. Hanson and Mr. and Mrs. Miner there were present: Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmer and children, Mr. and Mrs. Almon Harmer and son of Payson, Miss Lois Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Miner, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Boyer, Harriet, Lamar and Dick Miner. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Roylance and son Fred and daughter Mrs. Reta Kelley were in Salt Lake City Sunday to attend funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Owen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Johnson, former residents of this city..' . - A number of ladies from Springville Spring-ville represented the federated women's clubs of this city at a district convention at Lehi. Saturday. Satur-day. Papers by Mrs. M. R. Straw and Mrs. Harold Christensen of Springville were given at the convention. con-vention. Among others who attended at-tended were Mrs. G. L. Barron, Mrs. Mae Huntington, Mrs. A. O. Packard, Mrs. Martha Harrison, Mrs. F. W. Hoffman, Mrs. Howard How-ard Thorpe and Mrs. Emil Ost-lund. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Palfreyman entertained a number of friends at their home Saturday night. Progressive Pro-gressive 500 featured the entertainment entertain-ment with high suore prize for the evening going to Mr. and Mrs. Max Packard; second prize to Mr. and Mrs. Claude Williams of Spanish Fork and the consolation to Miss Mary Rigtrup of Eureka. Preceding the games a tasty luncheon was served at small j tables which were artistically dec-1 orated with Easter favors and motifs. There were present: Mr.1 and Mrs. Clark Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Williams, Miss Mary 1 Rigtrup of Spanish Fork, Ted Haines of Eureka, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brown of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Rowe, Mr. and. Mrs. Maurice Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Chi Ids and Mr. and Mrs. Max Packard. Richard Reynolds, assisted by his mother, Mrs. H. T. Reynolds Jr. ' entertained a number of school friends at a delightful East- : er party at their home Friday. The 1 Ea"ster idea was carried out in ' room and table decorations and during the games with prizes for the latter being won by Wilna Brown and Thomas Stewart. Other guests in attendance were Cecelia Maycock, Louise Clyde, Helen Christensen, Dorus Wing, Luella Huntington, Marjorie Simkins, Nana Lee Reynolds, Bobbie Jenkins, Jen-kins, Malcolm Condie, Richard Johnson and Dan Payne. Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Weight entertained en-tertained at dinner at their home Friday complimentary to Mr. and Mrs. Jay Madsen who recently came from Montana for an indefinite indef-inite stay here. Other guests at the dinner party were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thorpe. Mrs. Thelma Clark accompanied by Mr. Clark left Sunday on a visit to McCamman, Idaho. Members of the Home Culture club were entertained Friday afternoon aft-ernoon at the home of Mrs. C. E. Eggertsen. An afternoon of music was enjoyed with an interesting paper on "Opera" given by Mrs. DeTmar Dickson. Aa a supplement supple-ment to the paper, Miss Geraldine Eggertson gave several vocal solos taken from the operas discussed. A nicely arranged luncheon was served by the hostess in conclusion. con-clusion. The previous meeting, of the club was held at the home of Mrs. J. F. Wingate, when Professor G. W. Fitzroy of Provo gave an especially - interesting paper on "The Evolution of the Scale and Origin of the Song." Mrs. Blanch. Hales also gave a paper on "Dancing and Its Influence Upon Song." Harrison Conover then gave vocal solos, accompanied by Mrs. Hales. The club chorus also . gave selections. The election of officers was held during the afternoon after-noon with Mrs. G. L. Barron elected president; Mrs. William H. Anderson, vice president; Mrs. Howard Thorpe, re-elected secretary-treasurer. Following the meeting a dainty lunch was served by the hostess, special decorations of daffodils and pussywillows being be-ing used on the occasion. ! Members of the La Jolie club were entertained Thursday night by Mrs. Fern Senior. A tasty lunch was served early in the evening eve-ning at small tables at which also bridge was played laler. High score prize was won by Mrs. Melva Harrison and the second favor went to Mrs. Natalie Oakley. Oak-ley. There were present: Mrs. Evelyn Jordan, Mrs. Priscilla Senior, Miss Helen Averett, as guests and the members were Mrs. Harriet Taylor, Miss Ruth Lee, Mrs. Margaret Van Leuvan, Mrs. Helen Spafford, Miss Lenore Condie, Con-die, Miss Dona Averett, Miss Lucille Lu-cille Taylor, Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. Oakley and the hostess. Dr. Matilda T. Dickson of Montpelier, Idaho, en route to her home from spending the winter in California, spent several days of the past week as guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bird in this city. Mrs. Ray Smith and two daughters daugh-ters Renee and Elaine of Huntington, Hunt-ington, Utah, visited Sunday with relatives and friends in Springville. Camp Springville D. U. P. will be entertained Thursday, April 10 at the home of Mrs. Ella Crandall. Assisting hostesses for the afternoon after-noon are Mrs. Emma Haymond, Mrs. Hilda Averett, Mrs. Phoebe Singleton, Mrs. Mary Westwood, and Mrs. Mabel Kindred. The local Legion Auxiliary Saturday Sat-urday night gave a special banquet to the White Keys, social unit of the Brigham Young university. Approximately sixty people attended. at-tended.
