Show Region Three Schools Book Track and Field Meet at B. Y.U.Friday get underway al 2:30 p. m. ! with the trials in the 120-yard high hurdles. Tennis matches will open Friday morning. Provo, American Fork and Springville, if pre-sea.son meets mean anything, are expected to qualify the most boys for the state meet. Provo. defending state champion, already has Kleven schools of Region Three Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove. Lincoln. B. Y. high, Provo. Pro-vo. Springville, Spanish Fork, Pay.son, Nephi and Eureka will make their opening bid for the state high school track title Friday at the annual regional meet scheduled for the B. Y. U. stadium. With the first three winners in each event eligible for the state meet at Salt Lake City, May 13, each of the 11 schools is expected to send a strong delegation to the Provo meet. Tennis players of the schools will also qualify io:- the state meet. Each school will enter one singles player and a doubles team in the regional meet. Winners Win-ners and runnerup will place in the state playoff. The track and field events will chalked up a win in a quadrangular quad-rangular meet with Springville. Spanish Fork and Payson. A. F.'s Cavemen have proven that they will have a strong team entered due to showings in. the Utah high school relays and the "Y" invitational meet. Springville placed second to Provo Pro-vo in the quadrangular meet and should finish up next to the top in the region affair. Lehi and Provo are being pick-j pick-j cd as the favorites in tiie tennis ten-nis competition. Mile run. 3:05 p. m. 440-yard run. 3:20 p. m. 100-yard dash (finals), (fin-als), discus and high jump. 3:30 p. m. 120-yard high hurdles (finals). 3:40 p. m 220-yard dasl) (trials). 3:40 p. m. 220-yard dash (trials). 3:55 p. m. 200-yard low hurdles hurd-les (trials), javelin and broad jump. 4:10 p. m. 880-yard run. 4:20 p. m 220-yard dash (finals). 4:30 p. m. 200 - yard low hurdles (finals). 4:40 p. m. Medley relay (220, 220, 440, 880). 4:45 p. m. Mile relay. 4:50 p. m. Half-mile relay. (Relays will not be run until all other events are finished.) |
