Show SOCIETY NBVS Robertson. Mrs. Gladys Boyer entertained en-tertained with a vocal solo; Mrs. Hannah Clyde with a vocal solo; Mrs. Eva Crandall, a piano solo; A. G. Thorn a mandolin solo; William Wil-liam Wainwright, a monologue. Following the program those in attendance spent a short time with social chat. A large group of young people enjoyed a winter sports program sponsored by W. P. A. recreational committee under the direction of Wilford Mower, Saturday afternoon after-noon on the hill on East Fourth South street. Coasting races and other sports featured the occasion. Miner Marriage Of special interest to her many friends here is the marriage of Miss Marian Miner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Miner of this city to Dick G. Wright of Salt Lake City which took place Sunday, Sun-day, at high noon, at the home of the bride's parents. The ceremony was performed by Bishop Frank Jensen, brother-in-law of the bride, in the presence of immediate family members. The bride was charmingly dressed dress-ed in a navy blue going-away suit with an apricot colored blouse and other accessories to correspond. corres-pond. She wore a beautiful corsage cor-sage of rose buds and sweet peas. Miss Phylis Jensen was bridesmaid and wore a lovely gown of black and gold, with a corsage of roses and sweet peas. Frank Cambell of Salt Lake City was "best, man. The rooms were beautifully decorated dec-orated with cut flowers. Immed iately after the ceremony, a. wedding wed-ding breakfast was served to the family members and the couple left shortly after on a wedding trip. Upon their return they plan to make their home in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Ruth Bennion of Vernal is spending the winter with Mrs. Elizabeth Whitmore and other relatives re-latives here and at Provo. Bride Honored Complimentary to Miss Marian I Miner, a bride of the week, Mrs. Paul Miner entertained a number of relatives and friends at a party at her home Wednesday. The affair af-fair was held in the form of a quilting and shower. The brids received many lovely gifts and a beautiful quilt was also made for the guest of honor. At noon a tasty and nicely arranged dinner was served at one long table. Covers Cov-ers were laid for Mrs. Margaret Miner, Mrs. Bert Miner, Mrs. M. F. Miner, Mrs. Thora Daley, Mrs. Bernice Miner, Mrs. Ernest Johnson, John-son, Mrs. Velma Hjorth, Mrs. De-liah De-liah Miner, Mrs. Ramola Norton, Mrs. Ruth Bennion, Mrs. Elizabeth Eliza-beth Whitmore, and Misa Ina Miner. ' Members of the Missionary society of the Community church were delightfully entertained Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Frank Blackett. Mrs. Arthur of Payson gave a book ' review which was especially enjoyed by all. In conclusion a tasty lunch was served by the hostess to ten members present. Mrs. G. D. Kennedy of Salina spent several days of the past week with friends and relatives In Springville. She purchased a new car here and returned home Saturday. Hurmers Back Mr. and Mrs. Leo Harmer of Mnpleton have just returned from an enjoyable trip to California. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Boyer of this city announce the engagement of their daughter Helen, to Ralph Worthen, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Worthen of Provo, the marriage to take place in the very near future.' Robinsons Feted Among the successful and well attended parties of the week was one given Monday evening by the stake presidency and the high council and their partners in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Hilton A. Robertson Rob-ertson who will leave soon to p're-side p're-side over the Japanese mission in the Hawaiian Islands. Early in the evening a sumptu-our sumptu-our dinner was served in the dining din-ing hall. Later the "group assembled assem-bled in the Relief Society rooms where an enjoyable program was given. President J. Emmett Bird was master of ceremonies and C. G. Salisbury as toastmaster. Toasts or short talks wore given by most of the high councilmen with responses by Mr. and Mrs. |
