Show DAIRYMEN HOLD MEETING HERE The Springville-Maplcton Jersey Bull Bloc association held an annual an-nual meeting last Wednesday night, at the high school. President Presi-dent Lewis Childs was in charge. A report from the four blocs represented rep-resented were given during the evening by Heber Houtz, Lee Diamond of Mapleton, Lewiv. Childs and Earl Diamond. Mr. Childs gave a complete report re-port on business transacted by the ,. association during the year, slat-ing slat-ing that three purebred buns had been sold and the same number purchaseu. Romulas King, son of Lilac's Romulas and Lad's Independent. Inde-pendent. Lassie, was purchased from M. H. Mattison at Independence, Independ-ence, Oregon and belongs to the third bloc. Daisy's Remus Lad, son of Lilac Remus Lad and Remus PrincCHS Daisy, was purchased from M. N. Tibbies, Independence, Oregon, four months old. and is with the first bloc. Another calf, four months old, son of Lilas Sir Dus-tan Dus-tan and Romulas Lilas Louise, was purchased from Robert M. Iliff, at Independence, Oregon, and is with the East Bench bloc. - ' Lyman H. Rich, extension dairyman dairy-man from the U. S. A. C, Logan, attended the meeting and spoko. on the value of good dairy stock, stating it was more economical to keep good stock than inferior. Mr. Rich also compared the ! dairy production of this stute with others and that of this vicinity with the state. Through efforts of the local association, butter fat production 'has increased to an average of 345 pounds per year In this vicinity as compared to an average yearly production of 200 pounds in the state, it was staled. S. R. Boswell, county agent also spoke on the value of good dairy stock, and commended the local association for their work in dairy stock improvement. Officers of the organization for the coming year were elected during dur-ing the meeting as follows: G. K. Weight, President; A. 13. Riding, vice president; Lewis Childs, secretary-treasurer; Arthur Thorpe and Austin Houtz, board members. |
