Show I society ms Members of ' the Springville Firemen's organization and their partners entertained at an enjoyable en-joyable banquet and dance party at Kee'eys Wednesday night. Those in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. Orson Manson, Mr. and Mrs. Bird Brown, Mrs. Faye Snelson, Mr. and Mrs. Othell Bird, Bert Wilmott, Mr. and Mrs. Paul' Frandsen, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wignall, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Ardeen Van Leuvan, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sumsion, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Weight. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Rasmussen, nee Gloria Friel, left Sunday on a two weeks' vacation trip to California. Cali-fornia. Among the interesting places they plan to visit is the spring fashion festival in San Francisco. They will also spend some time in Los Angeles, Calif., and other places of interest along the coast. Miss Beth Allred of Duchesne is spending a few days of this week wTth Miss Fern Ostler in this city. Mrs. Roy Cates of this city has just returned from a delightful trip to California. She was gone a month and- visited her sisters, Mrs. James A. Hardy and Mrs. A. J. Croff and families at Los Angeles, An-geles, and also spent some time with her daughter, Clarice who is attending the Metropolitan Busi-1 ness school. I Members of the Home Culture club enjoyed the afternoon Friday at the home of Mrs. John R. An-, derson. The program featured a paper by Mrs. Elmo Coffman on "Library Needs," which was especially well received by those in attendance. After the paper was given a discussion was held. Mrs. W. H. Anderson, vice president of the club was in charge. Lunch was. served by the hostess at the close of the meeting. Mrs. A. G. Peterson was hostess host-ess to members of the Mothers' Study club at an especially well arranged program on music under un-der the direction of Miss Helen Palfreyman, Friday afternoon. A junior high school girls' chorus and a junior boys' chorus gave selections. Scott Thorn rendered vocal solos and Shirley Peterson gave two vocal solos and a piano solo. A vocal duet was also given by Misses Crandall and Hatch. A feature of the afternoon after-noon program was a paper on "Music Appreciation" given by Miss Palfreyman who also entertained en-tertained with two vocal selections. selec-tions. Mrs. Buleah Whiting introduced in-troduced Miss Palfreyman paying fine tribute to her music ability. President Maude Thorn had the meeting in charge. At the close of the program, luncheon was served to 36 members and guests. Mrs. Bertha Stewart entertained entertain-ed members of the Elite Bridge club at her home Friday evening. eve-ning. A delicious hot supper was served at srwall tables early in the evening, with vases of sweet peas forming artistic center pieces. Bridge was enjoyed with high score prizes for the games being won by Mrs. Lela Nelson, and the consolation by Mrs. Gladys Christmas, Mrs. Ina Williams, Wil-liams, Mrs. Faye Nielson of Spanish Fork, Miss Wanda Stewart, Stew-art, Mrs. Hazel Roylance and ' jVirs., Grace Crauuall, guests and Mrs. Delia Clark, Mrs. Flora Maiben, Mrs. Faye Snelson, Mrs. Marjorie Frandsen, Mrs. Ida Wignall, Wig-nall, Mrs. Lela Nelson, Mrs. Jennie Jen-nie Brown, Mrs. Crystal -Poulsen, Mrs. Bell Sumsion and Mrs. Al-meda Al-meda Evans, members. Members of Camp Aaron Johnson John-son Daughters of Utah Pioneers were entertained Friday afternoon after-noon at the home of Mrs. Emma Beardall. Mrs. Zelma Beardall, Mrs. Erva Childs, Mrs. Mary Weight and Mrs. Annie Wheeler were assisting hostesses. The program began with community singing under the direction of Mrs. Mary Weight. Mrs. Wells Crandall gave the lesson on "The Provincial Government of Des-eret." Des-eret." Mrs. May Bird gave the history of her grandmother Mrs. Mary Peasland Bryan. A vocal trio was given by Mrs. Lola Weight and Mrs. Erva Childs. Mrs. Minerva Weight entertained with a reading, "The Utah Pioneer." Pio-neer." During the afternoon three new members, Mrs. Delpha Hardy, Mrs. Minerva Weight and Mrs. Carl Davis were welcomed as new members into the camp. Tie meeting concluded with refreshments refresh-ments served by the hostesses. Members of the Entre Nous club will be entertained Saturday night at the home of Mrs. Maurice Bird. All are urged to be present. pres-ent. Mrs. Joseph King has returned to her home in Paul, Ida., after spending a few days here with relatives. She came especially to attend the funeral services for her father, John A. Strong. In honor of her daughter Marilyn, who was ten years old, Mrs. Clifford Crandall entertained entertain-ed at a nicely arranged birthday party at her home Tuesday. Games and a tasty lunch were enjoyed by the following guests in attendance: Jane Jenkins, Elizabeth Alleman. Connie Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, Ann and Floriece Hjorth, Glenn Alleman, Reese Allen, juan-ita juan-ita and Arteen Beesley, LaZell Felix, Norman Sanford, Beverly Thyrett, Retta Bjarnson, Shirley Measom, Merle Sheflherd and Dorothy Stewart. The Gleaner girls of the First ward M. I. A. were entertained at a "pot luck" party Wednesday evening at the home of the leader, Mrs. Manilla Brown. Games for the evening were under the direction direc-tion of Miss Margaret Childs and Miss Pauline Clyde while Miss Louise Childs, Miss Addie Davis, and Miss Naomi Pierce had the lunch in charge. Mrs. Eva Barlow spent Friday in Provo with her daughter, Lena, who has been confined in the hospital four weeks with a severely severe-ly injured knee and painful facial cuts which she sustained in an automobile accident in Provo. |
