Show County Starts Fruit Shipping Shipment of cars of cherries from Provo ana springville today to-day marks the continuation of the shipping season hi Utah county. Although the cherry crop in the county is but 50 percent of the 1934 crop, the quality of the fruit is good, according to H. V. Swen-son, Swen-son, district agricultural inspector. in-spector. Bing and Lambert varieties varie-ties have made up all the cherries shipped so far. Growers have beent guaranteed 85 cents a 13-pound' crate with possibility of a higher price if the market climbs. Apricots have started to ripen. There appears to be a substantial crop of the Moore park variety, an early apricot, although the later apricots will likely not be so plentiful. The crop generally is better than last year and the quality first class. A few early peaches have ripened ripen-ed in the Provo bench area. The peach crop is expected to be good and the big market varieties like the Elberta is said to be developing develop-ing normally. |
