Show I Local Seagull girls of the First ward Primary, under the direction of Mrs. John Hardy, were entertained enter-tained at a party Thursday evening, eve-ning, at the home of Shirley Peterson. Pet-erson. Lovely hand-painted place cards were arranged for the luncheon and games were also enjoyed. There were present: Phylis Peterson, Shirley Barker, LaRue Richmond, Marsh Hutch-ings, Hutch-ings, Ida Beardall, Gloria Chris-tensen. Chris-tensen. Marcella Jensen, Lela Rae Thorpe, Neva Kennedy, Bertha Thompson, Zella Felix, Audrey Giles and the hostess. Miss Louise Clyde .entertained a group of school friends at a dancing party at her home Saturday Sat-urday night. Guests included: Miriam Long, Cecelia Maycock, Helen Christensen, Marjorie Sim-kins, Sim-kins, Lucille Oakley, Luella Huntington, Hunt-ington, Phylis Bird, Wilna Brown, Malcolm Condie, Bob Jenkins. Dan Payne, Don Frandsen, Dick Reynolds. Darrell Barrett, Calvin Clyde, David Welch and Art Bird. In honor of Mr. . and Mrs. Thomas Binks. who celebrated their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary anni-versary last Sunday, their . children chil-dren entertained at a dinner at the family home. Covers were arranged for about 25 members of the immediate family, including includ-ing children and grandchildren. In the afternoon, an open house reception was held and a large number of relatives and friends greeted them on tjie occasion of their wedding day. Daughters of Pioneers, Camp Kolob, were entertained last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Hattie Witney with Mrs. Maude Peterson, Mrs. May Child and Mrs. Eliza Boyer, assisting hostesses. hos-tesses. About 30 members and guests attended. The meeting was in charge of Mrs. Emma Beard-all Beard-all and the lesson on "Early Schools of Utah," was given in an interesting manner by Mrs. LaRue. Walker. Mrs. Eliza Boyer told of early Springville schools. Comments were made by various members. Two harmonica solos were given by Mead Weight. Delegates to the county election in Provo next month were named as follows: Mrs. Zelma Beardall, captain; Mrs. LaRue Walker, Mrs. Maggie Daley, delegates; Mrs. Emma Beardall, Mrs. Bertha Rothwell and Mrs. . May . Bird, alternates. In the Theta Alpha Phi national na-tional dramatic fraternity's presentation pres-entation of "The Merchant of Venice" Friday and Saturday, in College hall. B. Y. U., Provo, Mrs. Verna Allen Breinholt of this city, will take the part of Portia. Por-tia. The production is made up of the dramatic talent of the school and is said to be one of the most outstanding plays at the school this year. Dr. Alonzo Morley is cast as Shylock. Dr. T. Earl Pardoe is directing the play, assisted by Mrs. Pardoe. The Fourth ward reunion will he held Thursday and Friday. Children of Primary age will be entertained at 4 p. m., Thursday and adults will attend a basket lunch, program and dance Friday evening. The dates for the high school musTc festival of Region Three, which comprises Utah and Juab county schools, is set for April 21 and 22, to be held In Springville, Spring-ville, according to Principal W. W. Brockbank of the local high school, who has been appointed general chairman of the event. Five students have been selected select-ed to represent the high school speech department in the extemporaneous extem-poraneous speaking division at the Ogden speech tourney, March 3 and 4. They are, LaRea Nielson, Niel-son, Nedra Beal, Andy Nyland, and Jack Laney from the senior department, and Lucille Oakley from the junior. Debate representatives repre-sentatives will be selected later. |
