Show boy scour BIN nqws Although few patrons assembled assem-bled to witness the accomplishments accomplish-ments of the Kolob district scouts at their camporee Friday and Saturday, at the city park, a fine demonstration of camping on a scout basis was demonstrated at the meet. A representative group of district officials including Commissioner Charles Boyer, K. S. Groesbeck, J. F. Wingate, Will Witney, Oscar Whiting, and Freeman Free-man Bird; also S. L. Mendenhall, i Sr., National Parks district official of-ficial and Chief A. A. Anderson, Chris Nielson and V. S. Johnson of the latter district, were in attendance. at-tendance. Mr. Mendenhall, Groesbeck Groes-beck and John Boyer spent the night at the camp. A campfire program featured the camporee with stories told by J. T. Wheeler, Charles Boyer and Chris Larson; stunts by the Pine and Moose patrols; talk by Chief Anderson; scout song led by E. S. Groesbeck and prayer by Leo Felix. Preceding the program various vari-ous contests were held and the results were announced ns follows: fol-lows: wood-chopping, Pine patrol, Fourth ward; Moose, Fourth ward, second; sack race, Pine patrol, first; First ward, troop 63, second;' sec-ond;' knot tieing, Pine patrol, first; troop G3, second; laying out a field, Wasps, Mapleton pa-! pa-! troi, first; Fourth ward patrol, second; estimating, Wasps, Mapleton, Maple-ton, first; Pine patrol, Fourth ward, second; flint and steel fire making, Fourth ward, first time 24 seconds; treasure hunt, Fourth ward patrol. V. S. Johnson during his talk on camp equipment announced u course along this line to be given here for scouts and scouters beginning be-ginning Wednesday June 3. Roll call at the camporee guve the following numbers in attendance attend-ance from each of the troops: troop 63, First ward, 5; troop 61, Second ward, 3; troop 64, two full patrols, 13; Mapleton, troop 66, one full patrol, 10. The camp was broken at about 10 a. m. Saturday to permit the scouts to participate in Memorial day services. |
