Show DEATH CLAIMS A. F. JOHNSON Alexander F. Johnson, 68, of Salt Lake City, a former well known resident of Springville, and father of Allen T. Johnson, manager man-ager of the Tri-State Lumber company of Provo, died Tuesday following a short illness at his home in Salt Lake City. Mr. Johnson was born in Springville, January 2, 1869, a son of Aaron Harriet" J hnsnn. H'S father was the first L. D. S. bishop in Springville. Mr. Johnson lived in Springville Spring-ville until 1924, when he moved to Portland. He live! there until 1928, and then went to Salt Lake City. During his early life, he followed the occupation of carpenter carpen-ter and contractor. He has always been active in L. D. S. church and civic affairs. For a number of years he served as Springville First ward clerk. He was also Sunday school superintendent for some time and during the short time he lived at Mills, was presiding pre-siding elder in that ward. He was a member of the high priests quorum in the Eighth ward. Salt Lake City, at the time of his death. He married Adcle Hatch in Springville in August, 1892. Surviving Sur-viving are his widow and the following fol-lowing sons and a daughter, Albert F., T. Vaughn and J. Delmar Johnson, John-son, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Bessie J. Phillips, Portland, Ore.; Harold Har-old Johnson, Cedar City; Allen T. Johnson, Provo; J. Mack Johnson, John-son, Richfield; Maurice A. Johnson, John-son, Ogden; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild; three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Christobel Curtis, Mrs.. Sylvia Miner, Mrs. Minnie Chase and Stephen Johnson, John-son, Springville. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p. m. in the First ward chapel. The body may be viewed at the chapel before the services. |
