Show FURTHER WORK WEEK CHANGES BEGIN0CT 24 Beginning October 24, an estimated esti-mated 32,000 workers in Utah will have working hours cut by final adjustment of the federal wage and hour law, in a reduction reduc-tion of the work week from 42 to 40 hours- A year ago, under terms of the act of 1938, the working week was reduced from 44 to 42 hours and the minimum pay from 25 to 30 cents an hour. This year there is no change in the minimum mini-mum hourly scale, and the law makes no further provisions for future changes. It is reliably reported that Utah Copper company employees will continue to work on the same hours per week schedule as they have the past year. No reduction in working time will be made, as the law permits working of employees em-ployees more than 40 hours a week by paying time and one-half one-half for work in excess of 40 hours- ,. United States Smelting, Refining Refin-ing and Mining company employees em-ployees have been on a 40 hour week since October 24, 1939. |
