Mich., Aug. 19 if.R) Two armv fliers engaged in maneuvers ma-neuvers with the second army, were killed today when their pursuit pur-suit ship caught fire during a power drive over a farm near Otsego. Ot-sego. The victims. Second Lieut. William Wil-liam W. Harding, of Los Angeles, attached to the 94th pursuit squadron squad-ron at Selfridge field, and Private Francis Maier, 19, of Dowagiac, Mich., were killed after they had bailed out of their blazing craft. Witnesses said the parachute of one of the fliers failed to open and the other hesitated too long before be-fore pulling his ripcord. |
