Show AGENTS TAKE UP TRAIL TO FIND SUSPECT Identification Of Body Is Positive; News Withheld With-held From Mother NASHVILLE, Term., Nov. 14 (U.R) The body of a child taken from a shallow grave was partly identified today as that of Dorothy Ann Distel-hurst Distel-hurst 6, kidnaped two months ago. Her father, A. E. Distel- hurst, in New York City, attempting attempt-ing to establish contact with the kidnapers, was reported in a state of collapse. The identification was as near positive as the decomposed condition condi-tion of the body would permit. Dr. Leonard F. Pogue, dentist, remembered re-membered filling one of Dorothy Ann's teeth. A small amalgam filling in the upper first right molar was revealed in examining the body. None Other Missing Police records showed no other missing and unaccounted for child. Officials pointed out the improbability of a child having been missing the length of time the body had been in the ground (estimated at two months) the time of Dorothy Ann's absence) without a report having been made. Members of the Distelhurst family seemed inclined to accept the identification, although hoping hop-ing that the body would prove to be that of another child. Nashville Nash-ville police, whose investigation had been held in abeyance pending pend-ing frantic attempts of the father to pay the $5,000 ransom demanded de-manded by the kidnapers, immediately immed-iately re-entered the case. It was indicated at the local department de-partment of justice offce, that federal agents immediately took up the trail of the criminals when the body was found last night. Department of justice agents announced they did not doubt but that the body was that of Dorothy Doro-thy Ann. The body was found near the Davidson county tuberculosis hospital, hos-pital, about six miles from where the child disappeared Sept. 3 9 on her way from her home to kindergarten. |
