Show . (V Sc j Mapleton BY DELIA HOl'TZ A birthday party was given in honor of Miss Edna Wiscombe, Wednesday evening. The evening was spent in playing progressive "500". Prizes were awarded to Irene Bird and Buelah Whiting. A tasty lunch was served to the following guests and their partners: part-ners: Fern Jensen, June Whiting, Buelah Whiting, Virginia Bird, Irene Bird, Genevieve Bird, Gertrude Gert-rude Ann Welch and the guest of honor. The guests motored to the preview at Provo. Mr. and Mrs. William Craig of Castle Gate were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. John I. Holley. Mr. and Mrs. Will Binks announce an-nounce the arrival of a daughter at their home November 7. Mr. Arnold Carter and Miss Mabel Clugg were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Holley, Sunday. A wedding dance was given Friday evening in honor of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert A. Towers at the Mapleton dance hall. Mrs. Towers was formerly Miss Helen Carnesecca. A large crowd attended. Mrs. Ruby Jensen gave a shower for Miss Mabel Dibble at her home Wednesday evening. Many friends and relatives presented her with beautiful gifts. Miss Dibble is the fiancee of Welby Warren. The marriage will take place November Novem-ber 14 in the Manti temple. The M. I. A. Junior class held a candy pull at the home of Mrs. Hattie Jensen, their leader, Monday Mon-day night. Mrs. Jensen was assisted as-sisted by Mrs. Alga Mackley, also a leader. The girls included Naomi Harmer, Bernice Johnson, Virla Whiting, Grace Holley, Erma Holley, Hol-ley, lone Nielson, Irene Jensen, Ruth Wiscombe and Larie Perry. A large group of people attended the road show Tuesday night. Everyone enjoyed it. The Mapleton P. T. A. held a meeting Wednesday night in the school house. A very interesting program was presented featuring the small school children. . Mr. L. A. Nielson and Mrs. Sadie Whiting spent the week-end with relatives and friends in Colorado. Missionary friends, Elder Charles Dibble and Elder Pope were Sunday Sun-day visitors of Mr. Wayne Holley. Mr. and" Mrs. Carlton B. Pope of Provo spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. James Curtis of Mapleton. Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Arnette of Castle Gate were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jensen, Sunday. Miss Rhea Hepler of Tremonton is a visitor of Miss Irene Jensen this week. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whiting gave a delicious dinner party Sunday Sun-day night for the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wiscombe, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Whiting, Baryl Whiting, Clifford Warner, Wilma Whiting, Merlin Jones, Har-ley Har-ley Whiting -and the host and hostess. , Erma Holley gave a party in honor of her little sister, Dorothy, who was five years old, Sunday. Erma was assisted by Grace Holley. Hol-ley. About fifteen little guests attended. Mrs. Hannah Mendenhall was hostess to the Mapleton Daughters Daugh-ters of Pioneers camp, Thursday afternoon. The lesson was given on "Proneer Forts. A delicious program was given as follows: Thanksgiving song by Hannah Jean Mendenhall, Orpha Dee, and Anna Mae Bird, a retold story, "Jack and the Beanstalk," by Richard Harmer, piano solo by Mrs. Arthur Mendenhall, reading "The Last Word," by Edna Hill Gale of Payson, vocal duet by Gen evieve and Virginia Bird, piano selections sel-ections by Erma Mendenhall, and a closing song by Hannah Jean Mendenhall, Orpha Dee and Anna Mae Bird. The history of Charles Monroe Bird was given and his two daughters, two daughters-in-law, fifteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren were present. pres-ent. A good representation of the members also attended. Mr. and Mrs. A. Leo Harmer of Mapleton announce the engagement engage-ment of their daughter, Eva, and Blaine W. Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Bird Allan of Salem. The marriage will be solomnized November Nov-ember 28 in the Salt Lake temple. Miss Harmer was formerly a graduate grad-uate of the Springville high school and of Henegar's Business College. Mr. Allan is a graduate of the B. Y. U. |
