Show SOCItTY NEVS guests of honor. A delicious lunch concluded the party. In honor of Mrs. Margaret Grooms who left this week to make her home in Salt Lake City, members of the Ladies' Literary club entertained at a party Saturday Satur-day night at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Salisbury. Progressive bridge was enjoyed with prizes won by Mrs. Hannah Callister and Mrs. Rea Straw. Others in attendance at-tendance were Mrs. Birdella Reynolds, Reyn-olds, Mrs. Ruby Christensen, Mrs. Helen Crandall, Mrs. Jessie Dalton, Mrs. Minnie Groesbeck, Mrs. Mae Groesbeck, Mrs. Emma Jacobsen, Mrs. Bess Mendenhall, Mrs. Lela Packard. Mrs. Julia Jumsion, Mrs. Manilla Brown, Mrs. Salisbury and Mrs. Grooms. A dainty luncheon concluded the party. Miss Albena Bonomo of the Carbon Car-bon floral at Price was the guest of Miss Wanda Stewart the past week. They also attended the Utah State Florists' association designing schools held in Salt Lake City. . . . ' ; Members of the Home Culture club numbering about twenty, were guests of the Nineteenth Century club at thier meeting last Friday, held at the home of Mrs. Walter Adams at Provo. The N: I. P. club members and their partners entertained at a party last Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Stewart. Games of 500 were enjoyed with the prizes being won by Mr. and Mrs. Stewart. Others in attendance attend-ance were Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Elden Palfreyman, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brown of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Childs. Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Miner visited with Mr. and Mrs. Claude Crow in Salt Lake City one day last week. They also attended the annual an-nual Red and White banquet in the evening, at the Newhouse hotel. Presidents May Fletcher and Dr. John Anderson of the Second ward M. I. A., with counselors Rowena Rigtrup and Asa Strong, surprised the Second ward road show cast and all assistants and the activity counselors Mrs. Martha Harrison and Ed Hutchings who accompanied accom-panied the cast to the various wards, with a treat of home-made candy and nuts following the final road show entertainment in their own ward Tuesday night. The refreshments were particularly enjoyed after a full evening of travel and performance. Mrs. Flora. MacPherson returned to Springville Thursday after a two months visit in Los Angeles. Her daughter, Miss Margaret MacPherson Mac-Pherson is enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Southern South-ern California and at present is working on her masters degree in sociology. In February Miss MacPherson Mac-Pherson expects to return to Springville to resume her work in Utah county. While in Los Angeles An-geles Mrs. MacPherson visited Mrs. Samantha Johnson, Mrs. Georgia Reynolds and Mrs. Tess Hatfield who are all' former residents resi-dents of Springville. During her recent visit to Los Angeles as a guest of her- neice Mrs. Tess Hatfield and husband Dr. Hatfield, Miss Elfie Huntington Hunting-ton visited many of the famous art exhibits and studios of well known southern California photographers, photog-raphers, and also several schools of photography. Miss Huntington also attended the Festival of Arts at, Laguna Beach and Max Reinhardts presentation of "The Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Hollywood bowl. Miss Geraldine Eggertson entertained enter-tained at an informal dinner at her home Saturday evening in honor of James A. Simmons of Spanish Fork, who leaves November Novem-ber 15 for the eastern states L. D. S. mission. Covers were laid for twelve guests. Following dinner din-ner all were delightfully enlter-tained enlter-tained with games of "missionary" and "parables," a general missionary mis-sionary theme being carried out throughout the party. Mrs. Mabel Simkins will tie hostess to the N. I. P. club at her home Friday. Members are asked to be present at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Lucille Stowell gave a delightful de-lightful birthday party last Sunday Sun-day afternoon -for Norma Jean Knudsen at the home of her parents par-ents Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Knudsen in Spanish Fork. The iittle guests were seated at one long table which was beautifully decorated with pink tapers and a pink and white cake holding five candles. Pink and white baskets of candy tied with a dainty bow of maline were given as favors. The party was given as a surprise to Norma Jean and twelve of her friends from Springville attended as follows: fol-lows: Nana Lee Reynolds, Joyce Ann Pierce, Shirley Allen, Dicky Jane Huntington, Aleen Johnson, Glenna Kennedy, Ruth Hardy, Nancy Ann Salisbury, Elaine Robertson, Rob-ertson, Marilyn Groesbeck and Carol and June McGavin of Spanish Span-ish Fork. Mrs. Charles Boyer was hostess to the Alpha Beta ciuo at ner nome Friday afternoon. President Zina Condie. presided. Mrs. Lowry Anderson An-derson gave the poem "Conquistador" "Conquista-dor" by Mac Liech and Miss Mildred Mil-dred Parry entertained also with readings. Mrs. Wallace Brockbank was welcomed as a new member into the club. At the close of the program a tasty lunch was served to nineteen club members. Miss Helen Huntington entertained enter-tained a group of school friends at a birthday party at her home Sunday afternoon. Games and a dainty lunch were enjoyed. In honor of Mrs. Russen Bird and Mrs. Freeman Bird formerly Misses Evelyn and Eloise Met-calf, Met-calf, a number of friends entertained enter-tained at a kitchen shower at their home Saturday night.
