Show Local Springville dance students will be interested to know that Tess C. Packard will resume her dance class work here on Saturdays. Due to special school activities at the B. Y. U., she has been unable' to continue her work the past several months. J. Emmett Bird of this city, has filed his candidacy with Clerk Ben Isaac of the Nebo school district, dis-trict, for re-election to the school board from district No. 1, representing repre-senting Springville, Mapleton. Thistle and Clinton. All candidates must file with the clerk at least fifteen days before election, which is to be held, December 6. Miss Lucille Crandall was removed re-moved to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Crandall, Wednesday, where she is convalescing convalesc-ing from an appendicitis operation. All M. I. A. recreation and appreciation ap-preciation course leaders of Kolob stake are requested to attend an institute especially arranged for these groups, Friday at 7:30 p. m., at the Provo First ward. Next Thursday, November 22, will be Novelty night at the First ward. The Relief society are sponsoring spon-soring the entertainment as a part of the ward's budget entertainment. entertain-ment. Among the local people who attended at-tended the annual Red and White banquet and convention at the Newhouse hotel, in Salt Lake were G. L. Beardali, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Miner, Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Anderson, Ander-son, Glenn Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Miner. Another cleaning day has been arranged by the local sewing classes class-es and will be held next Thursday, November 22 at the Firemen's hall from 1 until 5 p. m. All those desiring cloths cleaned are asked to communicate with the class leaders before the cleaning date. The sewing classes are still being held regularly at the hall from 9 a. m. until 5 p. m. Anyone with sewing problems is asked to attend. A large number of cattle together to-gether with hay and straw stacks belonging to local cattlemen were endangered by fire which began Sunday afternoon in the west fields. The fire evidently started in dry rushes bordering Utah lake, and spread rapidly to adjoining fields destroying large tracts of pasture lands. Many local land and cattle owners remained in the vicinity the greater part of the night guarding their property. |
