Show High School News Items BY HELEN KELSEY One hundred new seats have been purchased by the school for the auditorium. This has greatly helped to solve the seating problem. prob-lem. In Salt Lake, after visiting the ihigh schools, they had lunch and enjoyed themselves until time to leave. Over seventy-five students tried out for the competitive school play, "Growing Pains," Thursday afternoon. Those who were successful suc-cessful in winning speaking parts are: lone Averett, Richard Oakley, Ruth Baxter, Don Anderson, Helen Tew, Richard Loveridge, Deon Caffel, Caf-fel, Bernice Palfreyman, Marva Perry, Leslie Beardali, Martha Bird Bliss Packard, Dorothy Hill, Bern'ell Thorne, Beth Miller, Mark Whiting, and Helen Kelsey. The high school council gave the asembly Wednesday, November a if,- r .ishn Warner from Spanish Fork spoke on "Education." One of the interesting features of the program was the presentation of a set of drafting instruments and a set of automobile socket wrenches to Hugh Hjorth, by Mr. Jacobsen, shop instructor. Mr. Jacobsen explained ex-plained that at the Agriculture and Shop Boys convention in Logan last August, Hugh Hjorth and Robert Bird, represented the Springville high school. They brought second honors in the state for our school, receiving 103 points, whereas the highest was 104 points won by another high school. For this they received an automobile book and a book on drafting for shop use. Hugh Hjorth was high point man in the state and for this received the drafting instruments and wrenches, which were given by the Salt Lake Blue Print co., sterell Patterson's Hardware Co. and Ivan S. Noel, First supervisor of vocational education in Utah. |
