Show B.Y.U. PLANTS ! NEW ORCHARD! i Horticulture will make a stride I forward in Utah valley with the ; planting Saturday of a large ex- : perimental orchard on the Uni-1 versity hill farm of Brigham i Young university. Under the di- rection of Seth Shaw, "Y" horticulturist, horti-culturist, 120 new varieties of I , fruits will be planted. j I Few orchards of this kind exist in the intcrmountain region, and there are fewer still of its broad j scope, states Mr. Shaw. Fruit growers of this section should find the orchard of value. They will be able to determine what varieties of fruits are adapted adapt-ed to this regjon. Also they will be able to determine much about the quality and productiveness of the varieties. The orchard will provide much i valuable material for B. Y. U. classwork in systematic pomology, the identification of varieties from I fruit and tree characteristics. 1 |
