Show BAND HOLDS SECOND BIG CONCERT The second of a series of summer sum-mer band concerts was held at the city park Sunday evening. Fred Blackett, popular tenor of this city, was soloist and entertained the large crowd of leal and out--of-town people With several vocal selections. In the opinion of many local people peo-ple as well as those who come frm surrounding communities to hear the Sunday evening music, the concerts would be more effective effect-ive if it were not for the exceedingly exceed-ingly loud noise made by children who insist on turning the park into a public playground at this time. Not only is the noise detrimental factor but it is said tliat the flower flow-er beds which have required so much care and attention were almost al-most Hterarlly stripped of leaves and blossoms on the outer edge, during the concerts. It is a difficult task for one person or several to force children to restrain from loud rough play, but it is the opinion of the public in general that cooperation on the part of parents might make the concerts what they are intended to be, a musical entertainment for all to enjoy. |
