Show FOOTBALLERS HANGUP SUITS BY TOM JLATIMER The football season is practically prac-tically over for most of the teams of the state. The football suits are being stored away in mothballs to lie useless and forgotten until a promising football prospect gets himself into a mess, trying to put on his first football harness. A sagacious regular may lower himself him-self to help the green freshman untangle un-tangle himself. The footballs shall not be seen flying through the air or being toted for a touchdown by a speedy back. Basketball will soon poses-s the minds of the fans and lest we forget for-get let us review the Devils record, rec-ord, their disappointing defeats, their hard fought victories and their games which were neither a defeat nor victory. The first game Springville played play-ed was on their own field, their adversaries ad-versaries were the alumni the score 6 to 0 for the Devils. Time passed pass-ed and the Red Devils journeyed to Lehi to play a game. Neither team won for the score was a tie 0 to 0. The next game Springville played host to a bunch of Payson Lions. The Devils tied a knot in the hoaxing hoax-ing lion's tail to the tune of 14 to 12. The Lincoln railsplitters visited the Springville high school and went home with a 6 to 6 tie. The next encounter the Devils tackled the Bulldogs of Provo and came off without their pants and on the tail end of the score was 20 to 6 for Provo. Determined to make a comeback after their defeat Springville took the American Fork team on a run-around by defeating de-feating them 18 to 0. The last game was with Spanish Fork, the champions of Region 3. The Devils tried to oppose the blocking of the Forkcrs but could not withstand them. The score was 33 to 0 for Spanish Fork. Although the Devils did not win every game they accepted ac-cepted their defeats in a sportsmanlike sports-manlike manner. Several regular players will graduate this year nevertheless the students are looking look-ing to a football season just as successful if not more so next year. |
