Show PAY RATES SET FOR BEET LABOR WASHINGTON, April 5 U.P Secretary of Agriculture Henry A. Wallace today set minimum wage levels for sugar 'beet laborers, making observance of the minima a prerequisite for payment of benefits in the 1938 beet crop. To qualify for benefit payments, producers must observe the following fol-lowing rates: District 4 Nebraska, Colorado, southern Wyoming, South Dakota, Utah, Idaho, Oregon: blocking and thinning, $8 per acre; first hoeing hoe-ing $2.50 per acre; second hoeing, $1.50 per acre; pulling and topping top-ping 90 cents per ton up to and including yields of 12 tons per acre; for yields in excess of 12 tons, 80 cents per ton. |
