Show Vernon Condie, and family, in Afton, Wyoming. For her little daughter Barbara, who was nine years old, Mrs. Mell Keeley, assisted by her mothei Mrs. Austin-Roylance entertained at a delightful birthday party at the home of the latter Monday afternoon. A varied program of games was concluded with a dainty lunch suggestive of Easter. There were about sixteen little school friends in attendance. Mrs. Mae Crandall has returned return-ed to her home here after spending spend-ing several months with friends in California. A group of friends including LaSo club members and their partners were entertained at a potluck supper Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bramall, Following supper, all enjoyed cards and later attended the dance at Mapleton. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Johnson of Spanish Fork attended the party as special guests. Maude Ferguson 01" this city. Approximately Ap-proximately forty relatives and close friends attended. The time was spent with a very enjoyable program. Mrs. Mary Boyer gave piano solos; John Bailey of Provo, vocal solos; Jane Strong, pipe organ selections; selec-tions; Pauline Boyer, musical readings; Maurine Childs. piano solos; Ardella Nybo of Spanish Fork and Mrs. Jessie Nybo also of Spanish Fork, vocal solos. An interesting period of games was conducted and in conclusion a tasty lunch was served by the hostesses. A smart and outstanding affair of the week was the no host cocktail party and dinner given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh J. Ward, at Valley Tavern Tuesday evening. The entertaining rooms were attractive with bright yellow yel-low jonquils and acacia in crystal bowls and tied with silver metal cloth. The dinner table had as a center piece a large bride's cake decorated in shades of yellow yel-low atop of which was a miniature min-iature bride and groom. Large cathedral candelabra each holding three ivory tapers burnt at either end. Favors were lovely corsages of gold ilowers tied with silver metallic ribbon. ' Howard McKenzie acted as master of ceremonies and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick David Hoffman Hoff-man responded to toasts as did Mr. Ward. Toasts were proposed by Jay Jones, Rapheal Palfrey-man-and Blaine Smith. Miss Beth Smith. Blake Holley, Leila Harding Hard-ing and Frank Brinton assisted in the receiving line.. Thirty people were in attendance. A group of friends delightfully entertained at a surprise birthday in honor of Kenneth Boyer, son of Mr. and v Mrs. Harlan Boyer, at their home Monday evening. Kenneth was thirteen years old. The time was spent with games and music and a dainty lunch was served to aiout fourteen little school friends. Mrs. Emma Long spent a few days of the past week with relatives rela-tives and friends in Salt Lake ity. companied her son to Ogden where he attended a convention and they visited their daughter and sister, Mrs. C. H. Throstesen, returning re-turning on Saturday. Mrs. Martha Harrison has just returned from several weeks' visit in Pocatello, with her daughter, Mrs. L. B. Turpin and family, and also her brother, Horace Fereday and family. Miss Mildred Parry spent the j week end in Logan, the guest of Miss Kathleen Sowards. During her visit she visited the U. S.-A. S.-A. C, with Miss Sowards. Milan L. Crandall of this city is spending several weeks with relatives and friends in Salt Lake City. . Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Bird and daughters of Bingham, were Sunday Sun-day dinner guests of Mr. Bird's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bird. They also visited the art gallery during the day. Among the delightful parties of the week was the dessert bridge tea sponsored by the ladies of the Home Culture club Saturday afternoon, at Memorial hall. Mrs. W. H. Anderson was chairman of the committee in charge. An enT joyable time was spent with cards, progressive 500, auction and contract con-tract bridge being played. For 500, Mrs. Willis Diamond was awarded high score prize, with Mrs. Maurine Haymond winning high score prize in auction, and Mrs. Anne Stephens of Payson, hig'h score in contract. Prizes were lovely potted plants. At the conclusion of the party, refreshments refresh-ments were served to sixty-eight club members and guests, a large number attending from out of town. Members of the Ad' ' Libitium club were delightfully entertained Monday evening at the home of Miss Afton Bringhurst. Easter decorations were employed during a tasty luncheon and in the entertaining en-tertaining rooms. Bridge featured the entertainment with hig'h score prizes going to Miss Naomi Sumsion Sum-sion and Miss Betty Boyer. Others Oth-ers in attendance were Lola Smith, Elaine Crandall, Margaret Pierce, Marie Clegg, Bemice Jensen, Betty Boyer, Dora Collins, Mae Miller, Helen Rowland and the hostess. Tn honor of Mis. John Hardy who re.singed her work in the First ward Relief Society activity committee, members of the committee com-mittee and officers of the organization organ-ization gave a sin-prise party at her home Wednesday night. In appreciation of her services they presented her with a lovely scrap hook. Games furnished entertainment entertain-ment for the evening together with music and social chat. A large group of church workers wor-kers from Springville and Maple-ton, Maple-ton, went on the temple excursion to Salt Lake City on Friday. The affair featured Mrs. D. B. Welch in a review of the book. "Katriria" by Solly Salminen, and Mrs. C. A. Franks in three beautiful solos. At the conclusion of the entertainment, enter-tainment, refreshments were served. In attendance Were about 60 ladies. Among the delightful parties of the week was the surprise given Friday evening for E. A. Strong on tlie occasion of his birthday by his sisters, Mrs. Jessie Nybo ind Mrs. Bertha Robertson of Spanish Fork, Mrs. Mae Childs, Mrs. Bessie Bramall and Mrs. Mrs, Bert Groesbeck will be hostess to members of the Ladies Literary club at her home Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, April 6. Hatfield of this city, has just returned from Le-van, Le-van, where she has spent the past three months with her daughter, Mrs. Reuben Mangelson, and family. fam-ily. While there, she accompanied them on an enjoyable trip to Boulder Boul-der dam, where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Wilcox, the former being an electrical engineer en-gineer at the dam. Members of the Mothers' Study club were delightfully entertained at their armual art meeting last Friday evening at the Art building. build-ing. Mrs. Eugene Bird was hostess. host-ess. The program featured a talk on the current exhibit by Mrs. Mae Huntington; vocal solos by Mrs. Lela Packard and violin solos by Miss Phylis Smart. At the close of the meeting a tasty lunch was served to seventeen club members and guests. The next regular meeting of the Mothers' Study club scheduled for April 8, has been postponed to a later date to be announced. Charles Conover Sr., of Los Angeles, Calif., is spending a few weeks visiting and on business in Springville. He is a guest of his sister, Mrs. Mary Z. Hatfield. Members of the LaSo club were entertained last Wednesday evening eve-ning at the home of Mrs. Delia Smith. Cards featured the entertainment enter-tainment with high score prize for the games going to Mrs. Helen Beesley and Mrs. Ann Perry. Special guests at the party were ' Mrs. Tressa Parker and Mrs. La !
