ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT REORGANIZED ,JV Kimball In Charge of Athletics With Hart, Dixon Aides Kimball in Charge of Athletics to Coach Varsity Football; Hart To Handle Track, Dixon Basketball Aide football team. He coached at Fillmore Fill-more and Moab, coming to Jordan in 1930. He coached Jordan teams to state championships in both football and basketball. He came to the B. Y. in 1035 to aid Coach Romncy. Temporary reorganization of the physical education and athletic ath-letic setup at Brigham Young university uni-versity was announced following a meeting of the "Y" athletic council coun-cil in the office of President F. S. Harris Tuesday afternoon. The adjustments were made necessary when the request of Coach G. Ott Romney for a leave of absence for the remainder of the school year was granted Tuesday Tues-day morning by the executive committee of the board of trustees. Under the new setup, Edwin R. Kimball, instructor in physical education and athletics, will be in temporary charge of all athletics ath-letics in the institution.' Charles J. Hart, assistant professor in physical education nnd athletics, was placed In charge of physical education. Thus, athletics and physical phy-sical education will be separated. Mr. Kimball will be chief coach. Fred (Buckl Dixon, pres-sent pres-sent freshman football and varsity var-sity tennis coach, was named associate coach of basketball for the winter. Professor Hart was appointed associate coach in charge of track and field for the spring of 1937. Coach Kimball will have charge of spring football in 1937. Coach Romncy's title is professor pro-fessor of physical education and director of athletics, the two phases of activity being united under him. His leave of absence will take effect with end of the autumn quarter December 18. Kimball is a graduate of the B. Y. U. and played end on the |
