Show Contractors Nominate at Meeting Here Ernest A. Strong of this city and Paul Paulson of Salt Lake City were nominated for the position posi-tion of president of the intermoun-tain intermoun-tain branch of Associated General Contractors of America, at the. regular monthly meeting of the association, here Monday nignt. The meeting followed a tour of the city in which the new art building and other large structures were visited. Other nominations included Frank B. Bowers and C. L. Wheeler, Wheel-er, for vice president: J. Hv Tempest Temp-est and C. L. Wheeler, secretary and treasurer; S. N. Jacobsen and Frank B. Bowers of Salt Lake City to till the unexpired term of director, caused by the recent death of J. W. Whiting. Nominees for two-year directors were A. O. Thorn. Springville chairman of the entertainment; Floyd Whiting, Whit-ing, Kaysville; and H. V. Way of Salt Lake City. The election will be held at the association's offices in .Salt Lake City. Friday, January 15. The annual contractors' banquet will be held Saturday, January 10, at the Hotel Utah. Appointed as chairman of .the annual entertainment were A. K. Christensen, general arrangements;. C. N. Stillman. entertainment and program; J. B. Mullins, tickets; W. W. Clyde, prizes; Joseph W. Grant, allocation of free tickets; President G. T. Rowland, entertainment enter-tainment for the ladies. Approximately 108 contractors, members of the state road commission com-mission and special guests were in attendance at the banquet served early in the evening, at Memorial hall. President G. T. Rowland acted as master of ceremonies, Paul Thorn was toastmaster and Secretary Mark Tuttle introduced the guests in attendance. William R. Wallace, vice president presi-dent of the Utah Oil company was the principal guest speaker of the evening. Short talks were also given by Commissioner .Hilton A. Robertson, Mayor George A. Anderson An-derson of this city and A. S. Brown, Democratic national committeeman. com-mitteeman. The program was given as follows: fol-lows: trombone duet, Burns Hanson Han-son and Richard Loveridgc, acs companicd by Wallace Martin; accordion ac-cordion selection, Louise Clyde; violin solo, Phylis Smart, accompanied accom-panied by Beth Mendenhall; vocal duet, Mrs. Leah Webb and Mrs. Nclda Christensen, Spanish Fork, accompanied by Miss Hazel Clay-son; Clay-son; vocal solo, Jack Wright, Bait Lake City. |
