Show Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Boyer entertained en-tertained at a nicely arranged dinner din-ner at their home Sunday, in honor of Mrs. Boyer's father. Floyd Miner, whose birthday occurred on that day- Music and social chat were other enjoyable features. Guests included. Mr. and Mrs Floyd Miner and children. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Miner, Mrs. Elizabeth Whrtmore, the host. and hostess. Members of Camp Springville were delightfully entertained Thursday afternoon, at the home of Mrs. A. Y. Wheeler, Mrs. Elsie Condie, Mrs. Myrtle Harrison. Mrs. Emma Cranmer, Mrs. Mary J. Finley and Mies Fannie Rowland Row-land were assisting hostesses. The lesson on "Utah Under Territorial Law,"' was given by Mrs. Wheeler. Joe Cranmer entertained with a piano solo; Mrs. Mary Wheeler, a poem; Mrs. Vera Wheeler, a vocal solo, accompanied by Miss Verona Condie. Mrs. Ella Reynolds gave a New Year's poem. At the conclusion of the meeting, meet-ing, refreshments were served to a large crowd In attendance. Camp Aaron Johnson. D. U. P. members were guests of Mrs. An-ne An-ne Wheeler at her home Thursday Thurs-day afternoon. Mrs. Elizabeth Ilutchings, Mrs. Elizabeth Whit-more, Whit-more, Mrs. Margaret Miner, Mrs. Ada Nelson and Mrs. Susie Boyer were assisting hostesses. The program consisted of a piano solo. Mrs. Bell Thomas; the lesson on, "The Other Mother," by Mrs. Ellen Crandall; interesting interest-ing incidents in the lives of Bishop Aaron Johnson's wives, by Mrs. Margaret Miner. Mrs. Bell Thomas Thom-as gave a history of her grandmother, grand-mother, who was also a wife of Bishop Johnson and Mrs. Thora Daley gave the history of her grandmother, Mrs. Cecelia San-ford San-ford Johnson. Piano selections were given by Mrs. Julia J. Sumsion. A display of numerous articles of handiwork and other relics owned by the pioneers whose histories were told, added to the program. Mrs. Evelyn Eve-lyn M. Boyer gave a vocal solo and remarks were by Mrs. Sylvia Miner. Two county officers. Mrs. Jones, chorister and Mrs. Nellie Olsen, cheer leader, were special guests and the former led in community com-munity singing. The prayers were by Mrs. Eliza Boyer. At the close of the program, refreshments refresh-ments were served to about forty members and guests in attendance. attend-ance. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Finley and daughter, Glenna, of Olympia, Wash., have returned to their ; home, following several days' ' visit with relatives in Springville. Spring-ville. They came because of the death of Mr. Finlcy's father, A. W. Finley. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Olsen went to Salt Lake City the past week end to bid farewell to Mrs. Olsen's brother, Matthew Cowley and wife and daughter who left for the New Zealand mission, where Mr. Cowley will be mission mis-sion president. The family left with Apostle George Albert Smith and members of the general M. I. A. board, and will spend ten days in Honolulu, at a convention conven-tion before going to New Zealand. Zea-land. In their honor a large farewell fare-well testimonial was given shortly short-ly before their departure, at which Mr. and Mrs. Olsen attended. at-tended. Mrs. Olsen remained in Salt Lake City until Wednesday. Members of the First ward second year genealogy class enjoyed en-joyed a skating party at Park Ro-She, last Wednesday evening. About seventeen class members attended. Mrs. Frank Sanford and Miss Marie Rigtrup are instructors. instruc-tors. S. T. club members and their , partners enjoyed a party last J Saturday evening at Keeleys, Provo. Pro-vo. Cards featured the early evening's eve-ning's entertainment with high score men's prizes being won by Leon Harrison and high score ladies, by Mrs. Lee Sumsion. Following Fol-lowing cards, a tasty lunch was served at one long table and later dancing was featured. . Mrs. Lucille Mead of Boulder City, Nevada, spent several days of the past week with relatives in Springville. She came especially especi-ally to attend the funeral of her uncle, A. W. Finley. The Home Culture club program last Friday afternoon, featured an interesting and instructive talk by Dr. John R. Anderson, on "Social Diseases." The meeting was held at the home of mrs. W. R. Eddington. In addition to Dr. Anderson's talk, Mrs. J. F. (VVingate gave the second of a series of English lessons. Jack Clark entertained with saxophone selections, accompanied at the piano by Glen Law. President Ada Barron was in charge of the meeting. A tasty lunch was served ser-ved by the hostess in conclusion to twenty club members. Miss Margaret Streeper, who has been visiting here from Canada Can-ada for the past two weeks, left Sunday to visit other relatives in Kansas City. She was accompanied accom-panied to Salt Lake City by her father, John Streeper, Mr.- and Mrs. John Blanchard and daughter, daugh-ter, Betty, anil Mr. and Mrs. Bill Blanchard, who also were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Richmond. Rich-mond. Among the delightful parties of the week was one given by Mrs. Alex Long,, last Wednesday evening, in honor of her husband, hus-band, whose birthday occurred that day. Games and a tasty tain; Miss Merle Fletcher, First Lieutenant; Miss Buleah Whiting, Whit-ing, Second Lieutenant; Miss La : June Whitney, and Miss Barbara : Gudmundsen, cheer majors; Miss Virginia Bird, scribe. The club is composed of about forty other members, . all of Whom are privates pri-vates in the organization. Members of the Old Friends' club were delightfully entertaHfed last Wednesday . evening by Mrs. Retta Kelley, at the home of her mother, Mrs. Austin Roy lance. Progressive 500 was played during dur-ing the evening and Mrs. Gertrude Ger-trude Clements won high score and Mrs. Thelma Cherrington, the consolation. A delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served by the hostess to twelve club members and Mrs. Delia Clark, Mrs. Hugh Roylance, Mrs. George B. Beebee, and Mrs. Roylance as guests. A number of friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. Upton . Cherrington at their home Saturday evening. Cards and a tasty luncheon featured fea-tured the entertainment with the card prizes going to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ewing and Mr. and Mrs. Cherrington. The Junior girls of the high school, under supervision of Principal Prin-cipal W. W. Brockbank, recently organized a pep club to be known as the Develette Pep club. Their purpose is to stimulate high school pep and to sponsor stunts at the ball games. An interesting meeting of the Ladies' Literary club was held Saturday night, at the home of Mrs. Jessie Dalton. The program featured a lesson on English, given by Mrs. Lela Packard and a paper on the Autobiography of Mrs. Eleanore Roosevelt, given by Mrs. Julia Sumsion. Mrs. Wilford Mower also entertained with readings and Miss Bernice Nelson gave vocal selections accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Julia Sumsion. Sum-sion. Preceding the program, a tastefully arranged and delicious luncheon was served by the hostess host-ess to about 20 club members and guests. Miss Mattie Davis was hoste,s Monday evening at her home in Provo, at an enjoyable meeting of the Current Study club.
