Show KEEP BODY ! FIT, URGES i G, 0. ROMNEY "Your body is a sacred posses- j don. It is your responsibility as a I member of society to make the best of it. This is done my the exercise exer-cise of common sense." So said G. Ottlnger Itomncy, head of the physical education department de-partment of Brigham Young university, uni-versity, in an address delivered before be-fore the students of the school in College hall on Wednesday. Coach Romney called attention to the human hu-man body as a wonderful machine with its "myriad parts perfectly harmonized and coordinated as seen in the marvelous symphony of motion of the well trained athlete. There are very few persons, declared de-clared Coach Romney, who do not have reasonably well-constructed body machines to commence with, The problem is to keep them in good runni-ng order. Unfortunately these machines can not be left in the garage for repairs while the owner goes away. The defective parts' of an automobile may be re-nlpeod, re-nlpeod, but that is not true of the body; not many parts of the machine ma-chine can be replaced. f Man has learned much in conquering con-quering disease, said the speaker, but new problems are challenging mankind. Cities are growing larger and life is becoming more complex; t much is exacted from the organic I and nervous systems. The machine ; has relieved man from the necessity ; of developing into strong muscular animals, but has put greater strain on the organic and nervous systems. |
