Show GOOD NEWS IN UTAH INDUSTRY Good news for Utah is seen in industrial in-dustrial activity noted in the state today. As predicted in the Evening Herald news columns several days ago, the Provo plant of Columbia Steel resumed full-time activities Tuesday, with the blast furnace in operation. This means ' 24-hour I runs of three shifts each at the' steel plant, and affects the full force of employees. Utah's mining industry, for some time almost dormant, stirred with the announcement that the Murray, Utah, smelter of the American Smelting and Refining company would he reopened on a one furnace basis October i. Coincidentally with this development develop-ment came a statement from the International Smelting and Refining Refin-ing company that its Tooele smelter would also open some time in October. Both openings will affect a large number of employees, and the announcements an-nouncements give promise of a brighter outlook for this important import-ant industry. |
