Show STATE FAIR TO EXHIBIT FINE DAIRY CATTLE The largest exhibition of dairy cattle in the history of the Utah state fair will be a feature of this year's fair in Salt Lake City, October Octo-ber 3 .to 10, according to Manager Ernest S. Holmes. It is probable, according to Mr. Holmes, that the entries of Jersey stock alone will more than double last year's record of 178 animals. The reason for this is that the American Jersey Cattle club, with headquarters in New York, has designated des-ignated the Utah state fair as the 1931 western regional Jersey show. This will bring entries from. the fa-: fa-: mous herds of the Pacific coast and the northwest, as well as the inter-mountain inter-mountain country, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and other western states. With the certain entry of these newcomers to the Utah exhibition, Manager Holmes and the fair board are especially anxious that Utah exhibitors in the Jersey division, as well as all other livestock divisions, send in their entry blanks without further delay. The problem today, according to Mr. Holmes, is to avoid congestion of exhibits and 1 to make preparation for the record-; record-; breaking Jersey exhibit sure to be entered. Prompt receipt of Utah and intermountain entries will aid greatly in taking care of space reservations res-ervations so that all may be shown to the best advantage. Several weeks ago, entry blanks were sent to all past exhibitors, the western field representative of the Jersey Cattle club at Portland, Ore., county agents and every bank in every county of the state. Blanks may be obtained from either of the latter two sources or direct from the Utah state fair board, Salt Lake City. With the designation of the Utah fair as the western regional Jersey Jer-sey show, the national organization has added $500 in premiums to those posted by the fair board. It it also certain that this exhibit will bring to the Utah fair hundreds of Jersey breeders, dairymen and where. |
