Fifteen Utah county dairymen whose herds have been under official offi-cial test in the Utah County Herd Improvement association for a number of years, will be presented honor roll certificates at a meeting meet-ing Thursday, in recognition of high records of butter fat production. produc-tion. , Dairymen whose herds have achieved an average production ol mora than 350 pounds fat in one year will receive certificates bearing bear-ing a red seal. They are follows: Merrill Warnick, Pleasant Grove; Heber Knuc'sen, Utah State Hospital, Hos-pital, Lawrence Johnson, Provo; Heber Houtz, Springville; Hyrum Gray, Hulon Fox and Evans Anderson, An-derson, Lehi, and E. W. White, Spanish Fork. Green seal certificates, signifying signify-ing ownership of herds having an average production of not less than 300 pounds fat will be prosented to W. W. Warnick, Pleasant Grove; W. R. Hoover, J. C. Jensen, Provo; W. H. Nielsen and Oliver Hansen, Spanish Fork, and A. F. Thorpo, Springville. The records include the tests taken up to April 1 only. It is expected ex-pected that the list of dairymen, members of the testing association who will be eligible for honor roll certificates next year will be greatly great-ly increased, many new members having joinedi during the last year. The effect of testing on herd production pro-duction is seen in the increase of the average production of member herds in the testing association from 289 pounds in 1929-30 to 345 pounds this year. The latest average av-erage of the Utah county group is one pound over the average of the four testing associations in Cache valley, according to County Agent Lyman H. Rich. An effort will be made at Thursday's Thurs-day's meeting to organize a Utah county chapter of. the honorary guild of Gopatis to which all honor roll dairymen are eligible. It is expected that one of .the dairy experts from the Utah State Agricultural college will be in attendance at-tendance at the meeting, Thursday. |
