The annual Christmas program and social of the Daughters of Pioneers, Pio-neers, Springville camp, was held Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Reba Reynolds. Assisting hostesses wore Mrs. Julia Packard, Mrs. Nellie Straw and Mrs. Rhoda Dougall. Program numbers, cspo daily enjoyed by all present, in eluded: solo dance, Nana-Lee Reyn olds; Christmas story, Mrs. Cather ine Salisbury; vocal solos,' Mls.i Catherine R. Dougall, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Mary Witney, a paper on the customs of the first Christmas in Springvllle by Mrs. Mary J. Finley; piano solos, Mrs. Mary Witney; readings,, Richard Reynolds and Nana-Lee Reynolds. Roll call was answered with Christ mas sentiments. There were S2 games, with lunch served in thC late evening. A special feature of the Christmas Christ-mas social, held by the Daughters of Pioneers, Camp No. 1, Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Alta Alleman. was the review of the story, "Grandmother Brown's One Hundred Years,'" given by Mrs. Mae Huntington. Other enjoyable numbers included: guitar solo, Anna An-na Miner; reading, Dorothy Evans; harmonica solo, Louise Evans; song, Jackie Evans; harmonica duet, Anna Miner and Louise Evans; solo dance, Mary Elizabeth Alleman; harmonica solo, Anna Miner. The pioneer mothers of Camp No. 1 including Mrs. Francis Peterson, Mrs. Louisa Bulkley and Mrs. Harriet Wignal were special guests. Refreshments, carried out in Christmas colors, were served to 35 member and guests. Assisting Mrs. Alleman were Mrs. Blanch Hales, Mrs. Ann Harmer and Mrs. Jenette Ullock. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Alleman entertained a number of friends at a party at their home Saturday evening. eve-ning. A variety of games were enjoyed en-joyed together with a nice lunch served by the hostess. Those present pres-ent were: Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Child, Mr. and Mrs. George Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. A number of frjends were entertained enter-tained Friday evening at the home of Hastings Smith, the occasion marking the birthday of several in the party. Games were enjoyed after supper with the following present, Mary Hadley, Norma Av-erett, Av-erett, Helen Wheeler, Fay Averett, Grace Lee, Margaret Bird, Glenn Tipton, Bert Brown, Reed Averett, Hardy Childs and Lee Bate. Outstanding among the social happenings of the week end was the birthday party Saturday evening eve-ning for J. Frank Bringhurst of Kolob stake presidency and his wife, Mahalia C. Bringhurst. Mr. Bringhurst was 70 years old Sunday Sun-day and Mrs. Bringhurst, 65 on Saturday. Sat-urday. Tho couple are parents of 11 children, eight are living and ail attended the party except Jo? Bringhurst who lives in California. Mr. Bringhurst was bishop of the Second ward for 21 years wheen he was called to the stake presidency seven years ago. Mrs. Bringhurst, an active member mem-ber of the Second ward Relief society, so-ciety, served as counselor of that organization for many years. At the party President J. Emmett Bird and Hilton Robertson gave short talks as did also A. W. Harmer. Har-mer. who was counselor to Mr. Bringhurst, while he was bishop. Shirley Deanc Jones, Connie and Leslie Livingston, Kathleen Met-calf, Met-calf, Helen Christenscn, Cecelia Maycock, Dorothy Barron and Dickie Jane Huntington. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Child, Jr., entertained en-tertained at dinner at their home Sunday for Mrs. Ellen Wheeler, Mrs. T. E. Child, Sr., Miss Dorothy Osche and Miss Velma Blanchard. A number of ladies were entertained enter-tained at a quilting at the home of Mrs. Milena Sumslon Wednesday. A delicious dinner was served by the hostess in the late afternoon. Present were Mrs. Lee Sumsion, Mrs. Lewis Clegg, Mrs. John Blanchard, Blan-chard, Mrs. Gene Pierce, Mrs. Ralph Weight, Mrs. Arthur Bird, Mrs. Lydia Dallln, Mrs. Ira Taylor, Mrs. Hattic Witney, Mrs. Zelma Beardall and Mrs. Annie Sumsion. The "M" men of the First ward M. I. A. spent an enjoyable evening eve-ning at the home of Ralph Child Tuesday. The time was spent with progressive games and music. Supper Sup-per was served to 21 members. Complimentary to her husband, whose fiftieth birthday was Thursday, Thurs-day, Mrs. George Peterson gave a party for relatives at their home in the evening. Cards and other members present. After the serving serv-ing of refreshments all joined in singing "Jingle Bells." Mrs. Lee Sumsion will be hostess to the Social Twelve card club at the annual Christmas party at her home Tuesday evening, December 22. All are asked to be present at 8 o'clock. Shelton Olson returned from Colorado this week. He was accompanied accom-panied by his father who will spend the winter here. A number of friends and relatives rela-tives delightfully surprised Mr. and Mrs. Lee Miner at their home last Thursday evening, the occasion being be-ing Mr. Miner's birthday. Included in the party were Mrs. Mary Miner, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Alleman, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Miner, Mr. and Mrs. William Banks of Spanish Fork and a number num-ber of Provo people. The time was spent with a nice program and Music was by their son, Mark and family of Salt Lake. A historical sketch of the life of the couple was given by Mrs. Eva M. Crandall. Supper was served to about 50 family fam-ily members and friends. Miss Melpha Binks was delightfully delight-fully surprised by a number ol school friends at her home Saturday Satur-day evening. Lunch, games and a program of music were enjoyed by 20 guests present. Mrs. W. L. Grooms was hostess to the ladies of the Kensington club at a Christmas social at her home Tuesday afternoon. A tasty luncheon lunch-eon concluded the party. Members of the Home Culture club will be entertained with a Christmas program Friday at the home of Mrs. G. G. Woodmansee. All are invited to be present. The Mothers' Study club will hold their annual Christmas social at games were enjoyed and supper was served to about 20 guests, including: in-cluding: Mrs. Francis Peterson, T. E. Child, Sr., Will Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Beardall, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Child, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Will Child, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Snow of Provo, Ralph Child and immediate imme-diate family members. An elaborate and formal dinner was given Wednesday evening by the second year Beehive girls of the Second ward, at the home of Mrs. E. S. Groesbeck. A Christmas color scheme was carried out during dur-ing the menu, as well as in place cards and other table decorations. Mrs. Groesbeck acted as hostess. Places were arranged for Mary Boyer, class leader; Dorothy Barrett, Bar-rett, Elsie Madsen, Lulu Hatch, Lottie Bunker, Cleon Fox, Harriet Miner, Jane Bagley, Hortense Crandall, Cran-dall, Lois Hjorth, Avis Thompson, and Marion Miner. Mrs. Richard Huntington entertained enter-tained at a nicely arranged birthday birth-day party for her daughter Luella, Tuesday afternoon. A pretty Christmas Christ-mas tree stood in one corner of the entertaining room and the long table was centered with a birthday cake holding eight candles.
