Show SOCIETY I In honor of the Rov. Mr. Virgil Gaines, who ia retiring as pastor of the local Community church, the Christian Endeavor society entertained enter-tained at a Hallowe'en social at the home of Miss Ida Hoffman on Wednesday evening. All came attired at-tired in Hallowe'en costume. The house was prettily decorated in black and mange and these colors predominated in the luncheon. Those present included: Mrs. Lois Ostler, Miss Margaret McPherson, Miss Grace Diamond, Glenn Black-ett, Black-ett, Mr. and Mrs. McFadden, Mrs. Marion Groesbeck, Miss Louise Russell, Miss Yvonne Baker, Gene Buker, Mrs, Tens, H. Hat field of Iih Angeles, Mr. Gaines and the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Brown recently re-cently returned from an enjoyable trip to the world's fair at Chicago. While there they visited Mr. and Mrs. Grovcr Clyde, former Spring-ville Spring-ville residents and also while attending at-tending church services met a number of former Springville people. The American Legion auxiliary will hold their monthly meeting next Wednesday, night at the Memorial hall with Mrs. William Wainwright, Mrs. Julia Sumsion and Mrs. Manilla Brown as host-eases. mother Mrs. Eliza Thorn who has been ill. Mrs. Will Blown was hostess to the Social Twelve club at her home Thursday evening. During progressive pro-gressive bridge Mrs. Lee Sumsion won high score favor and Mrs. George Crandall the consolation. Luncheon was served at 11 o'clock to twelve club members present. M r. and M is. James Weight of Salt Lake formerly of this city visited here during the past week with relatives and friends. Mrs. Glenn Sumsion entertained a group of little friends at their home Tuesday in honor of her son Robert who was eight years old that day. The time was spent with games which were followed by a dainty iiinch served to twelve guests. Beveily Miner entertained at a Hallowe'en party at her home Wednesday Wed-nesday night for a group of school friends including Gold Webb, Virginia Vir-ginia Wright, Virginia Bird, Rhea Nielson, Thora Hafen, Maurine Gore .Delia Rae Bird, Viola Gene Miner, Alma Miner, Kent Miner, Howard Brinton, David Alleman, Russell Clark and Clyde Stone. Games and a Hallowe'en luncheon were enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Will Grooms of this city were among those who attended the football game in Salt Lake Saturday. Slias Ann Johnson entertained the members of the Busy Finger club at her home Thursday afternoon. after-noon. After a delightful time sewing, sew-ing, a dainty lunch was served by the hostess. Stephen Miller, employe at the Utah Poultry plant, who will be married soon was honored with a social given by the plant employes t and their partners at the home of Mi-, and Mrs. Lawrence Johnson Friday evening. The home was decorated dec-orated in Hallowe'en motiffs and 1 an enjoyable time was spent with Hallowe'en games after which a ; deticious luncheon was served. W. Phillips. Mr. and Mrs. Mark E. Tripp entertained en-tertained at a Hallowe'en party at their home Tuesday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Movell Day who are visiting here from California. Progressive Pro-gressive 500 featured the entertainment entertain-ment and guests included: Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Sanford, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sanford, Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Ence, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Sanford, Mrs. Georgia Wood and Howard Sanford. Mrs. Alice Gartner of Salt Lake has spent the past two weeks with her brother Ray Simkins here. A three act play given by Miss Nell Caffell will feature the Legion auxiliary program next Wednesday at 8 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Will Phillips and son Billie were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sumsion. Sum-sion. Members of the Community church joined Monday evening in an informal farewell social for the I Rev. Mr. Virgil Gaines who will I return to his home at Ardmore, Okla., and for Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Urquhart who will reside at Provo. j ! A program and refreshments featured fea-tured the party. Misses Evelyn and Norma Miner entertained the members of the Les Ceciliennes social unit of the B. Y. U. and partners at a Hallowe'en Hal-lowe'en party at the former's home Friday evening. Special guests included in-cluded Professor and Mrs. T. Earl Pardoe and Professor and Mrs. Gerrit de Jong. |
