MARTAIN " HONORED ON ANNIVERSARY Nearly fifty relatives from Provo, Pro-vo, Spanish Fork and Springville gathered in family reunion Wednesday Wed-nesday evening at the Second war 1 hall, to celebrate the sixty-fifth birthday anniversary of Mrs. Millie. R. Martain of this city. A program featured-, the early evening entertainment, toiiowcci Dy I games and luncheon. A. W. Hor-: Hor-: mer .. presided, with .community singing led by Christine Donaldson. The invocation was offered by John K. Johnson. Ace and Frank Johnson, in African attire, entertained enter-tained with stories and music during dur-ing the evening; Evelyn Reed, Ida Johnson, Christine Donaldson and J. L. Mecham, readings; Vesa Johnson, Maud Ogden, ilaroMcen Rasmussen, accompanied by Neil;e Thornton, furnished,. inu:,jc. Vera Johnson gyve an original character sketch of various family members; Mrs. Mary Reed gave the history of her mother, the guest of honor. Mrs. .Martain was born in Sa't .Lake January 5, 1S67 a daughter' of George and Mary A. Tullcnham ' Reynolds. At the age of 17 years her mother died leaving her to' caie for seven younger brothers 1 and sisters. In Uie meantime she' found time to attend a . school for nurses and graduated from the school at nineteen years. Previously Previous-ly she had attended school in Salt Lake under Karl G. JViacser, ana at the Brigham Young academy. Mrs. Martain practiced nursing for ten years, prior to her marriage mar-riage to Charles Martain. Autrust 29, 1896. Her husband died, the past year. Though sue has raiseu a large family, Mi's. Mai tain ha .; continued on in her - profession during practically all her married life. In earlier days, when means of transportation were limited, she has gone, at all hours of the nignc or day, into the homes of the sick. Her efforts to aid those in distress have covered a period of twenty-three twenty-three years in Springville. v mi patients numbering into thousands, she is beloved and known by practically prac-tically the entire community tor her kindness and untiring efforts in the sick room. She is the mother of ten children, chil-dren, seven are living: Mrs. Mary Reed, Mrs. Amy Mecham, Mrs. Maud Ogden, Jack Martain, Springville; Spring-ville; Mrs. Haroldeen Ra&mus:en.
