Show SOCIETY NEWS j Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Loynd of Colorado spent a short time here last week with relatives and friends in this city. The members of the Ladies' Lit-eiary Lit-eiary club of this city held a business busi-ness meeting Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. G. Salisbury. Salis-bury. President Helen Crandall presided. Preceeding a discussion of the year s-program light refreshments refresh-ments were served to twelve members mem-bers present. The first meeting of the club this year will be held Saturday Sat-urday afternoon September 27 at the home of Mrs. Glenn Sumsion. Mis. Eliza W. Hardman, of Eugene, Eu-gene, Oregon, is visiting her sister Mrs. Rilla Keley and other relatives and friends in Springville. Misg Helen Roylance, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Roylance, has returned to her home in Springville Spring-ville following a pleasant visit of two weeks with relatives and friends in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Jesse Goates and son of New York who have spent the summer sum-mer as guests of Mrs. A. C. Bird and other relatives here will leave soon to join Mr. Goates and make their home in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Maggie Wood gave an especially espec-ially interesting account of her missionary mis-sionary work among the Indians, telling of their customs and habits and displaying many pretty relics made by them. After the program dainty refreshments were served to about thirty-five guessts present, including in-cluding Mrs Beth Dallin of the stake board, Mnr. Mary Smart, Third ward president and Mrs. Mat-tie Mat-tie Palfreyman, Donna Ashcraft Hnd Mrs. Binks( leaders. Mrs. Carl OUen of Provo was I hostess to the members of the j Springvillc-Provo bridge club at her home Wednesday afternoon. Mrs.! Roy Coates of Springville and Mrs. J Le Roy Hardy of Provo were awarded card favors. A dainty luncheon served by the hostess concluded con-cluded the afternoon entertainment. Mrs. Elmo Roylance of Springville will entertain the club at her home Wednesday, August 27. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Grant accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Hugh Baxter j left Friday morning for a trip to I southern Utah. Mrs. Baxter will visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Houston at Panguitch while Mr. and Mrs. Grant will go to Bryce's canyon and Kanab. Mr and Mrs. J. R. Harmon and son of Chicago are guests of Mrs. A. C. Bird and family here. Mrs. Harmon was formerly Miss Louise Bird of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Clark and three children have returned io their home at Thatcher, Arizona, after spending the summer as guests of Miss Sophia Packard, Dames Clark and other relatives here. Mr. Clark is instructor in the Gila college at Thatcher. Morris Roylance of Rupert, Ida., and Miss Maied Back also of that city were married in Springville last week by Bishop J. Emmet t Bird of the First ward. Morris is the son of Mose Roylance, former residents of this city. |
