Show Peach Harvesting Begins, Heavy Crop Matures Earlier Harvesting or the first early peaches in the vicinity of Springville Spring-ville and Mapleton bench began this week. The season is somewhat advanced ad-vanced here this year, due to the dry. warm summer. A small percentage per-centage of the peaches show signs of damage by grasshoppers, according ac-cording to growers. The winter kill, so noticeable in the northern part of the slate, is almost entirely lacking in this district, dis-trict, while the damage by the recent re-cent heavy storms was placed at a minimum by agriculturists. While the peach crop in this section sec-tion will be of high quality with average yield, the pear crop will be considerable larger, it is thought. The apple crop here is predicled to be below par in quantity, although it is too early to safely predict this fruit crop. |
