Show I MAPLETON . Miss Bessie Diamond and Miss Pearl Beck spent Saturday in Salt Lake City with friends. A large group was entertained Friday night by the opero "Kaye and Gerda" given by the Maple-ton Maple-ton school and under the direction of Principal Rulon Nelson. The leading characters were Mark Hol-ley, Hol-ley, Kaye ; June Whiting. Gerda; Virginia Bird, Snow; Queen; Edna Wiscombe, Kaye's mother; Leora Martin, Gerda "s j'rnncimo'her ; Ruth Whitney, witch: Hannah Bee Mendenhall, robber girl; Ray Whiting, Whit-ing, robber captain. The flower soloists were Lois Whiting, Irene Bird, Jane Lee, Beth Whiting, Muriel Mu-riel Curtis The activity members of the ward gave a party for the adult members of the M. I. A. Thursday night. The programs consisted of dances and games and a lovely time was enjoyed by all. Duets were sung by Glenn Holley and Freeman Bird, piano solo by Zenna "Whiting, comic speech by Alice Waters, solo by Spencer Mackey, and a comic stunt "Three Bears," ! under the direction of Mrs. Olive Whiting, characters were Howard Waters, Wilma Whiting and Jesse Whiting. Luncheon was served the latter part of the evening. The Junior Girls of the M. I. A. entertained their mothers Tuesday night at a party. Games were enjoyed en-joyed and girls were dressed 'n costumes representing different nations. Luncheon was served to the following: the Misses Elva Lamb, Cora and Dora Harmer, Elaine Bird, Ruth Lee, Beryl Whiting, Whit-ing, Ferl Nielson, Mozelle Houtz, Mrs. Mina Llewelyn and Mrs. Ida Diamond as instructors, Mrs. Diz-zie Diz-zie Lamb Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Arnold Lee, Mrs. L. A. Nielson, Miss Josephine Jos-ephine Peterson, Mrs. Ray Bird, Mrs. Olive Whiting, Mrs. Otto Hall and Miss Melba Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Parley Judd were Mapleton visitors Sunday. . ; Mrs. Ella Johnson and Mrs. Ella Lee spent Monday in Thistle with friends and relatives. Miss Naoma Pierce spent Monday Mon-day night at Mapleton with Miss Ruth Wiscombe. j Mrs. Hazel Whitujg entertained j at a card party Saturday night, j Luncheon was served to the following, follow-ing, Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Burgg, Miss Faye Whiting and Miss Louise Plumley. James H. Sullivan and xour children chil-dren Horace, Grace, Helen and Ed- j na, from Salt Lake, were visitors : of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Whiting Monday. Mr. Sullivan is Mrs. Whiting's brother. Miss Sylvia Curtis and Miss Mary Pulley entertained a school club at Mr. Monte Groesberck's home. Games were enjoyed after which a lovely luncheon was served to the following members: Sylvia Johnson, John-son, Edith Teasdale, Blaine Min r, Frank and Dean Paxman, Gene Baker, James Zobelle, Elmo Curtis, Lois Hjorth, Hortense Crandall and Mrs. Groestoeck. x Virl "Johnson is spending some time at Billy's Mountain, where his father is working. |
