Show Heating Plan For Library Rejected I By City Board Utah county a commissioners Monday afternoon turned down a proposition of the Provo city library li-brary board for the saving of heat costs for the library but said they would acept another alternate plan. The plan of the library board, as presented by Dr. W. T. Hasler. Clayton Jenkins and Will Howe, is for the library and the city and county building to be connected in one unit of gas heating. This would make possible a lower rate than the county is getting now and permit per-mit the library to be heated at between $30 and $50 a year; instead in-stead of $400. The county, the delegation dele-gation pointed out, would still pay the same rate and the cost of the extension would be borne by the library. The committee pointed out that the Provo public library serves "not only 9000 Provo customers but 1500 I people from other communities. The money saved could be used to help give better service, they said. Commissioners Hilton Robertson, Robert-son, J. W. Gillman and C. H. White refused on the grounds that, it discriminated between Provo" and the other cities of the county. They stated they would agree if the library were put on a meter and ' pay oh a pro-rata basis with the rest of the building. Under this plan, the committee said, it would be doubtful if the extension' should be worth while as it would cost $1000 or more. |
