Miss Zina Johnson accompanied ty Mrs. Harold "Whiting of New York, and Miss Maria Johnson of Salt Lake, left the past week for a visit to the Century of Progress exposition at Chicago. Mrs. Waiting Wait-ing will meet her husband there, after several weeks visit in Spring-vllle Spring-vllle and Miss Zina Johnson will accompany Mr. and Mrs. Whiting to New York. Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Bryce of this city announce the engagement engage-ment of their daughter Lylace to Lester Cowan of Salt Lake, the marriage to take place the latter part of June. Louise Long, daughter of- Mr. and Mrs. Micheal Long sustained, a fractured arm, when she jump- , ed from a porch at their home Monday. Harry Masters of Los Angeles, Calif., spent several days of the past week with relatives here. He will be accompanied back to California Cali-fornia by his father William Mas- clothing, with President Verda Brown in charge. Mrs. "Joseph Robison entertained a group of friends Friday evening at a birthday for her husband, at the Dougall ranch in Hobble Creek canyon. A bonfire program, games and a weiner roast were enjoyed by all.- Guests included Dr. and Mrs. A. E. Robison of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Coulam of Lehi, I Mr: and Mrs. LaCelle Sumsion, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Condie, Mr. and Mrs.- Mark Johnson, Mrs. Cleonda Miner, Miss Josephine Reynolds, Mack and Hugh Dougall. Mrs. Gwen Cutler of Spanish Fork, M,rs. Kate Payne and Mrs. Carrie Tripp entertained at a bridge luncheon at the latter's home Thursday evening, for Mrs. Mildred Triplett, who was recently recent-ly married. Prizes for the evening eve-ning were awarded to Mrs. Elsie Mrs. Melba Hayes of New York City and Mrs. Arch Randolph of Ruiioy, Ida., were honor guests at a nicely arranged bridge luncheon given by Mrs. PauL Thorn at her home Fridny evening. Other guests included Mrs. Melva Perry of Provo, Mrs. Hannah Calllster, Mrs. Mabel HanHon, Mrs. Lora Bird and M is. ( Unnch Sondrup of Maple ton and Mrs. Hernice Johnson of Spanish Span-ish Fork. Prizes during the afternoon's after-noon's entertainment were awarded award-ed to Mr. Sondrup and Mrs. Perry. Mrs. Amy L. Jones, U. S. A. C. home demonstration agent met with the East Bench 4-H Sewing club Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Frank Sanford. The girls began sewing on children's Robertson and Mrs. Kate Payne. Other guests present included: Mrs. Virginia Harker, Mrs. Pearl Smith, Mrs. Helen Beardall, Mrs. Wealtha Mende.nhall, Mrs. Myrtrie Pace, Mrs. Vera Zabriskie, Mrs. Florence Bennett of Salt Lake, and Mrs. Triple tt. The group of friends, during the evening presented pre-sented Mrs. Triplett with a lovely wedding gift. Mrs. Sarah Sterling and daughter daugh-ter Lenore of this city left the past week for an extended trip to the world's fair at Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thorn and daughter have returned from a several sev-eral weeks visit with Mrs. Thorn's mother and other relatives at St. Anthony, Idaho. Mrs. Phoebe Singleton spent sev- eral days of . the past week with her brother Dav id Curtis and sister Mrs. Mary Ann Shuler and families at Payson. The Fourth ward Gleaner girls under the direction of Miss Mary Roy lance and Mrs. Emma Long, entertained at a social at the home of the latter last Tuesday evening. Progressive games and a tasty luncheon were enjoyed by a large group of class members. ' Mrs. Harrison will be employed in the domestic art department of the local high school the coming year taking the place of Miss Florence Robinson. Members of the Ava Delma club were delightfully entertained - by Mrs. Virginia Harker at her home Wednesday evening. Early summer sum-mer flowers centered each small table, from which luncheon was served early in the evening followed follow-ed by bridge. Mrs. Evelyn Fry won high score favor and Mrs. Viola Smith the consolation. The next club meeting will be June 21 at the home of Mrs. Vera Zabriskie. |
