Show HONOR COUPLE WED50YEARS SPANISH FORK Approximately Approximate-ly 200 relatives and friends gathered gath-ered Wednesday afternoon at the Third ward L. D. S. amusement hall to honor Mr. and Mrs. Wylie E. Thomas on their golden wedding wed-ding anniversary. A program of vocal and instrumental music and readings was given. Two original poems, one "Fifty Years From Now," by Mrs. Annie Rowe Beck, and another paying tribute to the character of the honored couple by Mrs. Winona Thomas, were read by the authors and formed an interesting in-teresting part of the program. Refreshments Re-freshments were served at six o'clock to those present. Wylie Edward Thomas was born at Spanish Fork Aug. 3, 1858. His father was James Wylie Thomas, a pioneer of 1847, and his mother, Mary Elizabeth Koyle Thomas, also of pioneer stock. Mr. Thomas spent his early life in con- struction work and in freighting with horses and a wagon. Mary Ann Banks Thomas was born Sept. 1, 1861, at Spanish Fork. She was the daughter of John and Mary Banks, early Utah pioneers. They are the parents of ten children, chil-dren, nine of whom are living. I They are Elmer Thomas, Leland; Mrs. Mary T. Gardner, West Jor- dan; John B. Thomas, Palmyra; j Mrs. Jennie Ludlow and Mrs. I Christie Lundell, Benjamin; Robert, Rob-ert, David and Mark Thomas, and Mrs. Hazel McKell, all of Spanish Fork. |
