Show home in Columbia after several weeks' visit in Mapleton with relatives rela-tives and friends. Four young ppnnie enjoyed a trip to Maple canyon lake on Sunday. Sun-day. In the party were Miss Beryl Whiting, Miss Muriel Jensen, Hazel Wiscombe and Fred Jensen. An enjoyable horeback ride was enjoyed en-joyed by the party. ( Under the auspices of the Sunday Sun-day school a celebration on Pioneer day has been planned in Mapleton. The day will be crowded with competitive com-petitive events and everyone is cordially invited to attend. The morning will leature an interesting interest-ing program. Complimenting Mrs. Russell Jensen, Jen-sen, formerly Miss Grace Brown of Spanish Fork, a shower was given by Mrs. Joseph Jensen, Saturday Sat-urday evening at the Jensen home. The affair was charming in every detail. Interesting games were conducted by the hostess and Miss Donna Creer of Spanish Fork. Guests were from Spanish Fork and Mapleton with thirty present. A lovely supper was served at the conclusion of the evening's entertainment. enter-tainment. Interesting was the fact that all three grandmothers of the bride gave her pillow cases with self hand made lace on. Many other beautiful gifts were received. Miss Ruth Whiting has returned home after a two weeks' visit in Columbia at the home of Mrs. Susie Fuller. Mr. and Mrs. George Wood and family of Farmington were Mapleton Maple-ton visitors Sunday. I MAPLETON I One of the loveliest affairs of the season was a quilting bee given by Mrs. Rebecca Hall at her home Thurday afternoon and evening. Late in the afternoon a sumptuous supper was served, covers being laid for nine. They were Mrs. Martha Whiting, Mrs. Hazel Whiting, Whit-ing, Mrs. Krrie Perry, Mrs. Iva Leo, Mis. Sadie Whiting, Mrs. Millie Bird, Mrs. Myrtle Bird, Mrs. Harriett Nielson and the hostess. In the early evening the guests enjoyed en-joyed a lovely lunch. It has been announced that all former residents of San Luis valley, Colorado, are invited to attend a picnic for the named residents at Vivian park in Provo canyon on Sunday July 26. All are requested to bring their lunch. Mrs. Sadie Whiting announces that the baby clinic will be postponed post-poned until the third Thursday in August. Dr. Bowdish and Nurse Sarah Lyance will be in attendance. All pre-school children are requested re-quested to be present. Mr. and Mrs. A. A. LeRoy an-nounce an-nounce the engagement of their daughter, Lucy, to J. G. Kerr, the marriage to take place Wednesday of next week. The young couple are prominent in both social and scholastic activities at the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university. The 4-H clubs held their regular meetings this week at the homes of Miss Ruth Wiscombe on Monday, Mon-day, Mrs. Ardilla Perry on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, and Miss Naomi Tew on Thursday. Preparations are being made for the county 4-H outing. complimentary to Miss Lucy LeRoy, Le-Roy, a bride-to-be, a lovely party was given Thursday evening by the Charmonta social unit of the B. Y. U. at the home of Miss Valera Dixon of Provo. Bridge was the principal diversion. Present were Charmonta members and also a number of friends. A lovely repast was served to all. Miss LeRoy was the recipient of many lovely gifts Miss LeRoy was also entertained at a shower at the home of her parents on Friday evening. Fourteen Four-teen friends were present to well-wish well-wish the future bride. A dainty I luncheon was served to those present. pres-ent. Many lovely presents were ! received. Enevold Anderson of Springville announces the engagement of his daughter, Beth to Fay Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jensen of Mapleton, the marriage to take place Thursday in the Manti temple. The young couple are prominent in social and religious activities in both towns. The bride-to-be is being entertained extensively extens-ively this week by friends and relatives. They will reside in Mapleton. An interesting fishing trip of the season was the one enjoyed by Jim j Holley, Leonard Whiting, Donald Hall and Clyde Larsen, in Hall's I canvon.
