Show Society News One of the most enjoyable parties . of the past week was given Tuesday Tues-day evening when Mrs. Ida Clyde, president of the Service Star Legion entertained the boy scouts of the Springville Fourth ward and lead-, ers who had assisted in collecting j 136 bottles of jelly for the con- j valescent soldiers Thanksgiving. The boys spent the evening singing scout songs and with social chat. Luncheon was served to 25 scou s and leaders, Lewis Cutler, Lindsey Parker, J. Thomas Wheeler and Finley Roylance. Mrs. Doris Bird and children have returned from Salt Lake where they spent the past week with relatives. Daughters of the Pioneers camp No. 1 spent a delightful afternoon Thursday at the home of Mrs. Selina Kelsey. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Jennie Starr, Mrs. Ada Harrison and Mrs. Annie Wheeler. The afternoon's program was especially espe-cially interesting with Miss Marie Ward entertaining with a review of her recent trip to Europe and music number furnished by the junior girls' chorus from the high school directed by Mrs. Stowell; also Miss Bernie Palfreyman gave a vocal solo. County officer Mrs. Mary L. Metcalf was in attendance and gave a short talk on record making before the camp members. At the conclusion of the meeting refreshments were served. by Chaplain Phoebe Singleton. A I dainty lunch was ser ved in con-j elusion. 1 I One of the most unique as well as enjoyable parties of the past week was given Saturday evening by the Boosters' club of the Springville Spring-ville nin school- The girls first assembled at the home of Gloria Friel where the first course of a delicious supper was served. Th? second course was served at the home of Miss Hazel Anderson, ihe dessert at the home of Marie Sim-kins Sim-kins and after dinner sweets at the home of Lenore Condie. From here the girls went to the home of Tess Packard who entertained them a a slumber party followed next morning by a delicious wafile breakfast. Those present to enjoy the affair were: Berniece Nielsen, Evelyn Miner, Marie Simkins, Mar-jorie Mar-jorie Wheeler, Lenore Condie, Kai-riet Kai-riet Brinton, Geraldine Eggertson, Gloria Friel, Beth Smith, Loris Snelson, Tess Packard and Hazel Anderson. A very delicious pheasant supper I was served at the home of Miss Coreene Roberson, Tuesday eve- j ning. Games were played and an enjoyable time was had by the following: fol-lowing: Misses Olive Madsen, Ilah Stevenson, Rua Hansen, Ruth Len-nell, Len-nell, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Liddiard, Messrs Edwin Boyack, Wayne Carter, August Swenson, Don Pierce and the hostess Miss Coreene Roberson. Mrs. Harriet Johnson of this city will leave within the near future to spend several months with her daughters and family in California. Members of the Social Twelve club will be entertained Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Joseph Grant. All are invited to be present pres-ent at 8 o'clock. A sociable afternoon was spent Wednesday by the members of 'he Primary stake board when they met at the home of Mrs. A. Y. Wheeler to sew on a quilt for the bazaar Wednesday November i9. A dainty lunch was served in the later afternoon to the following ladies present Mrs. Bertha Flygare. Mrs. Alta Alleman, Mrs. Hattie Blackett, Mrs. Mae Crandall, Mrs. Buleah Whiting, Mrs. Martha Harrison, Mrs. Mae Fletcher, Vrs. Eugene Bird, Mrs. Ida Bird, and Mrs. Gene Pierce. Family members of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Thorpe of this city went 10 Salt Lake Friday evening where their daughter Eva entertained at an elaborate birthday dinner in honor of her mother. Music an.i social chat were other features of the pleasant affair. j , Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Parker of Helper visited here last week with their "son Lindsey 'arid "family '.ind daughter Mrs. Lloyd Bird and family. With ' fifty-seven members and guests present the Daughters of Pioneers Camp No. 2 met Thursday Thurs-day afternoon at the home of Mrs. A. W. Finley. Mrs. Myrtle Harrison, Harri-son, Mrs. Lucy Robertson, Mrs. Olive McCurdy and Mrs. Laura Banner were assisting hostesses. During the afternoon an enjoyable program was given with the history of the late pioneers, Mrs. Fliza Crandall Deal and Mrs. Mary Deal Mendenhall given by Mrs. Mary M. Oakes; also an interesting review of the landmarks of Springville was given by Mrs. A. W. Finley. Other entertaining numbers were, piano solo, Pauline Clyde; reading, Beth Mendenhall; piano solo, Mary Witney; Wit-ney; vocal solo, Mrs. Hannah Clyde; reading. Fern . Livingston.
